The CSR Journal Magazine

Delhi University has issued its initial seat allocation list for undergraduate admissions for the academic year 2025-26. Released at 5 pm on Saturday, the list comprises a total of 93,166 allocations for 71,624 seats across 79 undergraduate programmes available through 69 affiliated colleges.

The allocation process includes candidates from various categories, such as Unreserved (UR), Other Backward Classes (OBC), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Sikh minorities, Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Kashmiri Migrants (KM), and individuals within orphan and single girl child categories.

For the upcoming academic year, Delhi University provided a diverse range of undergraduate offerings, including honours and multidisciplinary courses spanning humanities, sciences, commerce, and performing arts. A senior university official explained that the high number of allocations is based on previous year patterns where many students change their college preferences.

Admission Process and Candidate Response

The admissions are being conducted following the Common Seat Allocation System for Undergraduates (CSAS-UG), which incorporates candidates’ scores from the Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduates (CUET-UG), along with category-specific reservations and programme-college preferences put forth by the applicants.

Within two hours of the allocation list’s release, 27,533 candidates successfully accepted their designated seats, indicating a robust initial engagement from prospective students. Those allocated seats are required to confirm their acceptance by 4:59 pm on July 21. Subsequent to that, colleges will validate and endorse the applications on July 22.

Furthermore, candidates are expected to complete the payment of the admission fee by July 23 as part of the first round of the allocation process. It is worth noting that allocations for specific performance-based programmes will be available in the third round.

Upcoming Second Allocation List and Performance-Based Courses

Performance-based courses, which include BA (Hons) in Hindustani Music, BA (Hons) in Karnataka Music, BA (Hons) in Percussion Music, B.Sc. in Physical Education, Health Education and Sports, and the Bachelor of Fine Arts, will have their seat allocations announced in the third round. Applicants seeking admission to these specific programmes are encouraged to review the trial schedules published on the respective college or departmental websites.

Delhi University has also made arrangements for candidates to view their minimum allocation scores and ranks through their personal dashboards. Additionally, the minimum scores will be accessible to the public via the university’s admission portal.

The second CSAS allocation list is anticipated to be revealed on July 28, at 5 pm. The academic session for newly admitted first-year undergraduate students is set to commence on August 1, 2026.
