DU Launches Phase I Registration for Undergraduate Admissions, Over 71,000 Seats Available

The CSR Journal Magazine

The University of Delhi (DU) has initiated the Phase I registration for undergraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session, signalling the start of the admission process for numerous candidates who took the CUET UG 2026 exam. Aspirants can complete the registration by accessing the university’s UG admission portal and following the one-time application procedure.

All undergraduate programmes will consider the scores from the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 as part of the admission policy. This year, DU is facilitating admission into more than 71,000 undergraduate seats spread across over 70 colleges. The new academic year is expected to start on July 21, contingent upon adherence to the admission timeline.

Details of CSAS Phase I Process

The first phase of the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) entails several steps for candidates, including registration, verification of personal details, and confirmation of category and reservation claims. Alongside these, applicants must pay the application fee and verify their CUET details before moving forward in the process.

Following the university’s receipt of the CUET UG score data from the National Testing Agency (NTA), the next phase will open, allowing candidates to submit their preferences for colleges and programmes. The allocation of seats will depend on various factors such as CUET scores, eligibility criteria specific to programmes, reservation policies, and the preferences indicated by candidates.

This year, a significant advancement has been made in the application process with the introduction of API Setu integration, designed to streamline the process by auto-filling many candidate details from official records. This change aims to minimise manual data entry and reduce potential errors.

Documents Required for Application

As candidates prepare to fill out their application forms, they are urged to gather essential documents beforehand. These include the CUET UG 2026 application details, mark sheets and certificates for Classes 10 and 12, category certificates such as EWS or PwBD if relevant, a passport-sized photograph along with a signature, and a valid identity proof.

Once candidates have submitted their preferences, Delhi University will conduct multiple rounds for seat allocation. Those who are successfully allotted a seat must accept the allocation and have their documents verified at the respective college, followed by the payment of the admission fee within the designated timeframe.

In cases where seats remain unfilled after the regular allocation rounds, the university plans to hold spot admission processes to accommodate additional candidates. Officials recommend that applicants thoroughly read the Bulletin of Information and complete their registration well ahead of the deadline to prevent any last-minute technical difficulties.
