The CSR Journal Magazine

Director Aditya Dhar’s film, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, featuring Ranveer Singh, has garnered significant attention on streaming platforms after its worldwide release on May 14. The film’s arrival on Netflix has resulted in strong engagement, especially in Pakistan, where it has reportedly secured the top trending position.

Response from Pakistani Audiences

Maviya Umer Farooqui, a content creator, has shared that viewers in Pakistan displayed their enthusiasm by staying up until midnight for the film’s release. According to his claims, the response was so tremendous that it temporarily disrupted Netflix’s servers in the region due to an unexpected spike in traffic. Farooqui posted a video highlighting his experience of the film buffering repeatedly, asserting that the issue was not due to his internet connection, which was functioning normally.

In this video, Farooqui indicated that the anticipation for Dhurandhar had led many to synchronise their viewing at the designated hour. He emphasised that this reflected the heightened interest surrounding the film among audiences in Pakistan.

Additionally, he mentioned that while discussions regarding the film’s narrative authenticity were separate, the primary curiosity was about the production quality. He noted that viewers were generally aware of the character portrayed by Ranveer Singh, and there would be opportunities to address whether the events depicted had any basis in reality, particularly concerning occurrences in the Lyari locality.

Trending Position and Upcoming Release in India

Farooqui later confirmed through an Instagram update that Dhurandhar: The Revenge had officially attained the No 1 position on Netflix in Pakistan. This development further underlines the film’s popularity and the anticipation it has generated across the border.

In India, the film is scheduled to be available for streaming on JioHotstar from June 4, 2026. The platform intends to organise a unique digital event for fans ahead of its online debut. Notably, a raw and uncut version of Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already been released internationally on Netflix, allowing global audiences to view the film in its entirety.

Having debuted globally on May 14, the film was released eight weeks after its theatrical presentation. The international release includes unedited scenes that contribute to the storytelling experience.

Cast and Characters

Alongside Ranveer Singh, Dhurandhar: The Revenge features a notable ensemble cast, including Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, Danish Pandor, and Rakesh Bedi, each contributing to the espionage thriller’s narrative depth and complexity.

The film’s combination of action and drama aims to engage audiences and generate discussion around its themes and portrayal of contemporary issues. As it continues to trend, the film’s impact on viewers in both India and Pakistan is likely to evolve, fuelling further interest and dialogue.

In summary, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has made a significant mark since its release, particularly in Pakistan, where it has captivated audiences and set streaming records. The upcoming release in India is expected to enhance its visibility and popularity in the region.
