Delhi Traffic Alert: Commuters Face Delays on Faiz Road-Rani Jhansi Corridor Until June 18

The CSR Journal Magazine

Commuters travelling through Central Delhi should anticipate delays as traffic on the Faiz Road-Rani Jhansi Road corridor will be impacted until June 18. This disruption is due to the ongoing installation of a 220 KV cable by Delhi Transco Ltd, specifically between Faiz Road and RA Idgah towards the Rani Jhansi Flyover. Authorities have announced that these works commenced on June 8 and are expected to continue for a duration of ten days.

As traffic is expected to be slower than usual, especially during high commutation times, motorists are advised to plan their journeys with extra time in mind. The construction work is imperative to enhance the infrastructure in the area, yet it brings significant changes to usual traffic patterns.

Delhi Transco Ltd is responsible for this project, and their operations are critical for the future electrical needs of the region, albeit causing short-term inconvenience to road users.

Increased Congestion Periods Announced

The Delhi traffic police have indicated that road congestion is likely to intensify during peak periods. Specifically, commuters may experience notable delays from 8 am to 11 am and again from 5 pm to 9 pm. These times are crucial for daily commuters, and the anticipated slow movement can lead to prolonged travel times.

Motorists are encouraged to consider alternative routes wherever feasible. The traffic advisory suggests planning journeys ahead of time to avoid the impacted segments during peak hours. Road closures and limited access may contribute to unexpected delays for those who do not adjust their plans accordingly.

Traffic authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, aiming to minimise disruption while the cable-laying work is ongoing. Constant updates are expected to be provided as the project progresses.

Guidance for Commuters During Infrastructure Work

Authorities have emphasised the importance of strategic planning for those intending to use the affected corridor. They recommend using available alternative routes to ease any potential frustrations on the road. Commuters should adhere to the instructions provided by the traffic personnel on-site and follow any directional signage placed to guide them through less congested paths.

Emergency vehicles will be given priority to ensure they can operate effectively during this period of construction. This is a crucial aspect for maintaining public safety; thus, motorists should remain vigilant and yield to emergency vehicles when necessary.

The traffic restrictions due to the cable-laying work are expected to remain in effect until June 18, following which typical traffic conditions should return, contingent on the timely completion of all works involved. It is recommended that commuters stay informed about the latest developments regarding this traffic situation, as changes may arise depending on work progress.
