The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has resumed regular passenger operations across all stations as a result of the Cockroach Janata Party formally ending its protest. The DMRC announced that “Entry gates of all Metro Stations of the Delhi Metro network are now open,” indicating the restoration of services after several days of significant disruptions.

This decision comes after a series of security measures were implemented, including staggered closures at eighteen key metro stations in central Delhi. Major stations impacted included Rajiv Chowk, Central Secretariat, Mandi House, ITO, and New Delhi, which led to notable inconvenience for commuters, particularly during peak travel times.

Following an evaluation of the situation, security personnel and law enforcement agencies began removing barriers at these principal stations after the successful resolution of the sit-in at Jantar Mantar, which had become a focal point for the agitation.

Details of Station Closures and Operations

Prior to the resumption of normal activities, the following stations were reported closed: Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhambha Road, Supreme Court, Seva Teerth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, Shivaji Stadium, Jhandewalan, and New Delhi. While these stations are now accessible, the operations of interchange facilities continue at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat.

As of July 25, 2026, DMRC communicated through its official X account that certain stations would remain closed from 8 am onward until further notice, though interchange facilities would remain operational. They expressed regret for any inconveniences caused to passengers.

The delays in service were primarily attributed to the extensive protests surrounding issues such as examination paper leaks and demands for systemic reforms in the educational sector.

Demonstration Conclusion Linked to Political Developments

The withdrawal of the protest, which lasted several weeks, was precipitated by the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. This political shift came in response to the core demands raised by the student community during their demonstrations, addressing concerns over examination integrity and broader educational reforms.

The resolution seems to have resulted in a more conducive environment for dialogue between student organisations and government authorities, marking a critical point in addressing the ongoing unrest related to educational processes.

With the agitation formally concluded and metro services fully operational, the DMRC and respective authorities now aim to ensure the smooth functioning of transport services as commuters resume their daily routines.
