The CSR Journal Magazine

The Delhi Government has announced plans to replace all streetlights within the national capital with a smart LED system, a project expected to cost approximately Rs 473 crore. This initiative will involve the replacement of around 96,000 existing streetlights. The decision was made during a hybrid meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee chaired by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.

The primary objectives behind this replacement include enhancing energy efficiency and improving the quality of illumination throughout the city. The government’s move is part of a broader strategy to embrace modern technology to attain better resource management and environmental sustainability.

Officials from the Chief Minister’s Office indicated that the transition to LED technology would contribute to significant energy savings. The new lighting system is expected to lower operational costs while providing better service to residents of Delhi.

Launch of the ‘Hauslon Ki Udaan’ Talent Hunt Initiative

On the same day, Chief Minister Gupta also introduced a talent hunt initiative named ‘Hauslon Ki Udaan’, aimed specifically at the youth of Delhi. The programme is designed to offer a platform for young individuals to display their talents across various fields. The government plans to launch an online portal for registrations that will permit participation from individuals aged between 16 and 35 years.

During the launch, CM Gupta expressed optimism about the potential of the initiative to connect with talented youth throughout the capital. She praised the efforts of the Art and Culture Ministry, stating that it was crucial for the government to facilitate opportunities for young people to showcase their capabilities.

The Chief Minister highlighted that participation would not incur any registration fees, ensuring broader access to the programme. Participants will be able to upload videos of their performances to the portal, which will then be evaluated by a jury panel for final selection.

Programme Structure and Categories

The selected participants will undergo auditions held across 35 zones in Delhi, culminating in a state-level program where awards will be presented. The competition comprises seven categories: singing, dance, acting, instrumental music, digital art, and sculpture, among others, providing diverse avenues for youth expression.

The programme aims to include participants from various backgrounds, promoting inclusivity within the arts. This strategy is intended to ignite a creative spirit within the youth and encourage them to engage with their artistic aspirations.

By offering a structured approach for talent development, the initiative reflects the Delhi Government’s commitment to fostering a vibrant cultural landscape. With the backing of government resources and support, the programme seeks to leverage local talent and cultivate a sense of community among young artists.
