The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched a series of searches at five locations in the Munger district of Bihar in relation to an alleged investment fraud. This investigation is centred on a scheme involving a private music company located in Jamalpur and surrounding areas, where investors were reportedly misled by promises of “digital jobs” that would double their investments. The operation commenced early on Thursday, August 6, 2026, under Section 17 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), as confirmed by officials from the ED’s Patna zonal office.

The searches are ongoing at several locations related to suspects involved in the case. The ED’s actions are part of an extensive inquiry into claims that individuals were scampered into investing substantial amounts based on false promises.

Modus Operandi of the Alleged Scam

However, reports indicate that after collecting these investments, the company’s software engineer manipulated the website’s functionality. This tactical slowdown made it considerably challenging for users to complete the necessary tasks, thus preventing them from fulfilling the conditions requisite for payouts.

Legal Actions and FIR Registration

The investigations have also led to formal legal proceedings against the involved parties. A First Information Report (FIR) was reportedly filed on November 18, 2024, under specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), 2023, at the Munger Police Station. This step underscores the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing commitment of the ED to address financial misconduct.

Authorities are currently focusing on untangling the complex network of operations associated with the case. The ED’s meticulous approach aims to hold accountable those responsible for allegedly defrauding numerous individuals while simultaneously protecting the interests of potential future investors.
