Real estate company Embassy Group has stepped forward for the second year in a row to augment the Education Department’s endeavour to ensure the health and safety of students and invigilators at this year’s SSLC examinations during the Covid-19 pandemic. With the exams scheduled for July 19th and July 22nd, the Group will provide sufficient sanitizers for both days, benefitting over 9.6 lakh students and invigilators.
The initiative is a part of Embassy’s larger CSR efforts to support Government Schools and their students across Karnataka during this challenging time. Additionally, Embassy and their corporates partners donated face shields for 59,887 teachers and temperature monitors for the 9,347 Government High and Primary Schools in the state.
Amid surging Covid-19 cases in the last year, the Group equipped schools with the necessary resources to create a safe and anxiety-free environment – providing deep cleanings, sanitizations and daily maintenance in their adopted schools. Around 30,000 Government School students also received health kits and awareness with the aim of decreasing the chances of increased virus transmission.
S Suresh Kumar, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Government of Karnataka, thanked Embassy for their collaboration in a ceremony held today, and said, “Embassy Group’s contributions have been imperative in safeguarding our students during their SSLC exams. We are extremely pleased to see corporates like Embassy continue to partner with the Government in not just building and refurbishing Government Schools, providing health and education initiatives, but also in providing support during the pandemic. This initiative will go a long way towards mitigating the continued ill-effects of Covid-19. These exams are vital in shaping the futures of our students, and we will take every effort necessary for them to take place in a safe manner.”
Aditya Virwani, Chief Operating Officer, Embassy Group, said, “Embassy has a long history of promoting health and safety of Government Schools in Karnataka, in collaboration with the Department of Education. With the SSLC examinations set to begin soon, we wanted to make sure that every student had nothing to fear in terms of their own health and safety. We are extremely pleased to be able to step up and augment the Department’s efforts, for a second year, so that students can sit their exams without further disruption. We are committed to continuing our support for our students during this difficult period, and hope these efforts will be motivating during this important educational milestone.”

Embassy and a consortium of corporates had previously joined hands to donate sanitizers during last year’s SSLC examinations. As a part of its overall Corporate Connect Program, Embassy has partnered with 34 corporates for 59 projects with the belief that collaboration in the space of CSR leads to greater impact.

Over the last 9 years, the Group has nurtured over 150 Government and Rural schools in Karnataka. Embassy approached the Department for Public Instruction to identify ways in which this assistance could continue to be extended during the pandemic.
