Congress MLA Nana Patole Accuses BJP of Deceiving Alliance Partners, Cites Bihar CM Nitish Kumar’s Nomination

The CSR Journal Magazine

Congress MLA Nana Patole has criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), alleging that it has consistently deceived its alliance partners. This statement comes in light of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s announcement that he will file his nomination for the Rajya Sabha elections. In discussions with reporters, Patole drew parallels between Kumar’s circumstances and those of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Eknath Shinde, who was not re-elected as Chief Minister despite the Mahayuti coalition achieving a majority in the Maharashtra Assembly elections in 2024, where the BJP emerged as the dominant party.

Nana Patole cites Eknath Shinde as an example

Patole stated, “Maharashtra serves as a prominent example. Eknath Shinde led the elections, and the government was formed, yet he did not retain the Chief Minister position. Similarly, in Bihar, Kumar has been at the forefront, and even after his party won, he is being sidelined.” He emphasized that the BJP has a history of treating its coalition partners poorly, expressing concern over the party’s behavior in both states.

The BJP won a total of 132 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, while Shiv Sena secured 57 seats, and the Nationalist Congress Party obtained 41 seats. Other constituents within the Mahayuti alliance contributed five seats, resulting in a total of 235 seats. In the aftermath of these results, Devendra Fadnavis was appointed Chief Minister, succeeding Eknath Shinde.

NDA Coalition in Bihar

In Bihar, the NDA coalition, under Nitish Kumar’s leadership, achieved a two-thirds majority in the recent assembly elections held in 2025. Following this victory, Kumar took the oath of office for the tenth time, reinforcing his status as Bihar’s longest-serving Chief Minister. Kumar confirmed his intention to seek a seat in the Rajya Sabha, signaling potential changes in the state’s governance. “I aim to be elected as a member of the Rajya Sabha in the upcoming elections. I assure you of my continued commitment to work collaboratively towards a developed Bihar,” Kumar remarked on a social media platform.

This decision comes after Kumar’s success in securing his fifth consecutive term in the Bihar assembly elections, underscoring his political endurance and influence in the state. The political dynamics in both Maharashtra and Bihar highlight the complexities surrounding coalition governance in Indian politics.
