Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has outlined his government’s development strategies, particularly within the state’s micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector, during a recent event in Mathura. At the Panchayat gathering, he emphasised efforts to elevate local products to a global market, aiming to enhance their visibility and economic impact.

One of the key initiatives mentioned by Yogi is the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme, designed to promote Uttar Pradesh’s diverse MSMEs and unique local items. By supporting this initiative, the government aims to connect artistry from areas like Firozabad for glasswork, Moradabad for brass, and Varanasi for silk sarees with broader market opportunities, further invigorating the local economy.

The Chief Minister noted that initial surveys identified distinctive products across five districts, prompting officials to extend this identification process throughout the state. This comprehensive examination ultimately allowed for the selection of a signature product from each of the 75 districts in Uttar Pradesh.

Mathura’s Culinary Delight and Cultural Attire

Yogi Adityanath announced that Mathura’s famous Thakur ji’s attire has now been included under the ODOP scheme, expressing satisfaction at its growing recognition beyond national borders. The initiative aims to celebrate and promote not just traditional attire but also the culinary heritage of the regions.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister mentioned a new initiative known as One District, One Cuisine, with Mathura’s peda, a local sweet, selected to represent the district in this cultural promotion effort. He reflected on conversations with women from self-help groups at an exhibition, where many shared their business experiences and earnings, showcasing the significant financial impact the government initiatives have fostered.

Some women reported impressive earnings, with one group achieving a turnover of Rs 10 crore, illustrating the potential of local entrepreneurship unleashed by support from the state government since 2017.

Empowering Artisans and Global Market Access

Yogi Adityanath articulated the government’s commitment to empowering local artisans and entrepreneurs, providing them pathways to market their products. He asserted that the government had initiated tax benefits and improved market access while enhancing infrastructural support for local industries.

According to Yogi, these efforts have led to the establishment of better connectivity for businesses and guaranteed essential supports such as reliable electricity. Moreover, he noted advancements in technology, packaging, and design, which have collectively amplified the global reach of Uttar Pradesh’s One District One Product initiative, drawing international attention and interest.

He claimed that the state recorded exports surpassing Rs 2 lakh crore for the financial year 2025-26, specifically attributing this success to the state’s MSME sector and asserting these figures are indicative of Uttar Pradesh’s global export capabilities.

Rich Cultural and Historical Significance of Uttar Pradesh

In addition to economic initiatives, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath brought attention to Uttar Pradesh’s rich religious and cultural heritage. He named significant pilgrimage sites, including Ayodhya, Kashi, and Mathura, highlighting their importance to various faiths, alongside notable Buddhist and Jain historical sites.

The Chief Minister detailed significant locations such as Kapilvastu, Sarnath, and Kushinagar, relating them to key events in the life of Lord Buddha, thus showcasing the state’s deep historical connections to major religious traditions.

He also mentioned the vital role Uttar Pradesh has played in India’s independence movement, referencing key figures and events from the Revolt of 1857, affirming the state’s historical significance extends beyond its religious landmarks.
