He recalled an incident in which a former state education minister allegedly confused freedom fighter Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil with the renowned shehnai player, Ustad Bismillah Khan. This mix-up reportedly took place during the inauguration of a park honouring Bismil in Gorakhpur.

According to Yogi Adityanath, while delivering a speech, the minister neglected to mention the correct name and instead referred to the occasion as a celebration of Bismillah Khan’s birthday. This raised eyebrows, leading to a clarification from someone present on stage that the park was named after the revolutionary figure, not the musician.

The Chief Minister remarked on the lack of historical knowledge displayed, highlighting that such confusion reflected poorly on the educational background within the state. He insinuated that the inability to distinguish between these two significant personalities pointed to broader issues in the education system.

Response to the Mix-Up

In a follow-up to the incident, Yogi recounted that when the minister was corrected, he allegedly reacted defensively, suggesting that the individual raising the concern might be a supporter of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
