A 16-year-old girl from Charkhi Dadri district in Haryana was discovered dead under unclear circumstances, leading her family to accuse a schoolmate and three other youths of gang-raping her and forcing her to ingest a toxic substance. The victim had left her home on February 24 to collect her roll number for the upcoming Class 10 board examinations. Her family received distressing news hours later regarding her sudden health deterioration.

Emergency Response

At approximately 1:30 PM, the family was contacted with alarming information about her condition. Initially taken to a general hospital in Dadri, she was later transferred to Pandit Bhagwat Dayal Sharma Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences due to the seriousness of her health issues, where she ultimately passed away during treatment.

Allegations of Criminal Activity

Relatives reported that the girl was discovered unconscious in a public park. According to their allegations, a schoolmate had lured her to the area, where four young men proceeded to assault her inside a vehicle. Family members expressed their heartbreak, stating, “She was a child. She trusted them.” Based on these allegations, law enforcement has initiated a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Ongoing Investigation and Postmortem

A postmortem examination was carried out by a team of medical professionals at PGIMS Rohtak, and samples have been forwarded for forensic scrutiny. Police officials informed that clarity regarding the cause of death would be established once the postmortem and forensic reports are completed. Meanwhile, the family has steadfastly refused to accept the body, demanding the apprehension of the accused before proceeding with funeral arrangements, stating, “We will not perform the last rites until the accused are arrested.”

Community Response and Police Action

The incident ignited outrage within the district, prompting a gathering of community members, social organizations, and political groups who rallied in support of the victim’s family and called for swift justice. Police representatives later met with the grieving family to assure them of the steps being taken for accountability. Authorities reported that three suspects had been arrested and presented to the girl’s father, who expressed approval of the progress in the investigation. Further actions will be contingent upon the findings from medical examinations and forensic analyses.
