Hyundai Bayon to Launch in India on October 26, Featuring Advanced Safety Systems

The CSR Journal Magazine

Hyundai Motor India has unveiled the safety features of the upcoming Bayon, set to launch on October 26, 2026. The vehicle is equipped with Level 2 Pro Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) that include 23 functions, six airbags, and a robust body structure made from 69 per cent advanced multi-grade high-strength steel. Built on the Global K Enhanced Platform, the Bayon is designed to comply with five-star safety standards in India.

The safety package encompasses more than 80 advanced safety features, with over 35 of these available as standard across all variants. Key components include a reinforced body structure, multiple grades of high-strength steel, electronic stability control, and Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS. The company has also highlighted various parking assistance technologies and highway driving assistance functions that contribute to the vehicle’s overall safety.

Among the notable features of the Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 Pro ADAS are Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), which provide detection and assistance for cars, pedestrians, and cyclists. Additional functionalities include Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and Driver Attention Warning (DAW), ensuring a comprehensive safety net for drivers.

Body Structure and Engineering

The Bayon’s body structure utilises 69 per cent advanced multi-grade high-strength steel, which includes Hot Stamping (HS), Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS), Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and High Strength Steel (HSS). This reinforced structure is specifically engineered to manage crash energy effectively and enhance occupant protection during collisions.

Hyundai has incorporated hot-stamped components in critical areas such as the front apron, dashboard, rear floor, and side reinforcements. These components are designed to improve protection against rear impacts, while the vehicle’s dual-box construction and ring-type structure work to distribute impact forces, thereby enhancing structural integrity and reducing the risk of cabin intrusion.

The Global K Enhanced Platform serves as the foundation for the Bayon’s safety systems and structural design. Hyundai asserts that this combination of platform architecture, reinforced chassis, and various grades of high-strength steel aims to provide an all-encompassing approach to occupant safety.

Standard Safety Features and Engine Specifications

Hyundai has confirmed that the Bayon will include over 35 safety features as standard across all variants. Standard equipment will comprise six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill-Start Assist Control (HAC), and an Emergency Stop Signal (ESS). The SUV will also feature a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), rollover sensor, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, and rear parking sensors.

Additional standard features include a burglar alarm, central locking, and a headlamp escort function. This extensive safety package integrates passive safety equipment, electronic vehicle control systems, and various driver assistance technologies, including all-wheel disc brakes.

The Hyundai Bayon will be powered by a four-cylinder, 1.5-litre MPi naturally aspirated petrol engine, delivering 115 bhp and 143.8 Nm of torque. Buyers will have the option of a six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).

Colour Options for the Hyundai Bayon

The upcoming SUV will be available in ten exterior colour options, featuring monotone, dual-tone, and matte finishes. Monotone options include Titanium Black, Classy Blue, Atlas White, Fiery Red, Golden Bronze, and Ecotronic Grey. For those interested in dual-tone finishes, options will include Atlas White with a black roof and Fiery Red with a black roof.

For a matte finish, Hyundai will offer Titanium Black Matte and Classy Blue Matte. The Hyundai Bayon is set to launch in India on October 26, 2026, and is expected to attract significant attention due to its advanced safety features and diverse colour options.
