Buffaloes Named ‘Trump’ and ‘Netanyahu’ Become Eid Attraction in Bangladesh, Draw Massive Crowds

The CSR Journal Magazine

In Bangladesh, as preparations for Eid al-Adha unfold, two buffaloes have gained unexpected fame due to their resemblance to prominent global political figures. Locals have affectionately named one buffalo after former US President Donald Trump and the other after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Their unusual appearances have sparked curiosity and crowds at farms near the capital, Dhaka.

One buffalo, nicknamed “Donald Trump,” reportedly weighs close to 700 kilograms. Observers have noted its pale skin and light-coloured hair, which some believe evokes the distinctive hairstyle of the former president. A visitor to the farm, quoted by Bangladeshi publication Prothom Alo, humorously remarked on the buffalo’s visual similarities while noting its tranquil disposition compared to Trump.

The buffalo’s owner, Ziauddin Mridha, shared with The Business Standard that the nickname originated from his younger brother’s observation of the animal’s unusual characteristics. Mridha also stated that albino buffaloes, like this one, tend to be peaceful creatures unless provoked. With Eid celebrations approaching, reports indicate that this buffalo has already been sold in anticipation of the festivities.

Intense Behaviour of the Netanyahu Buffalo

In contrast, the buffalo named after Benjamin Netanyahu has captured a different kind of attention, particularly in Narayanganj. Weighing over 750 kilograms, this animal is described as having a far more aggressive temperament. Reports suggest that it often snorts, charges at its handlers, and exhibits unpredictable behaviour, differing dramatically from its Trump-named counterpart.

A farm manager, speaking to local media, described the Netanyahu buffalo as “naughty,” suggesting that its behaviour may reflect a certain level of “devious intelligence.” This portrayal has further fuelled online discussions about the animal, with many finding the parallels to the personalities of the world leaders either amusing or remarkable.

With Eid al-Adha drawing near, the popularity of the two buffaloes has created a wave of interest across the nation. Social media platforms are flooded with images as visitors flock to farms to take photographs alongside these unique creatures. The discussions around their names continue, with many questioning whether the comparisons to the leaders are accurate, coincidental, or merely humorous.

Social Media Buzz Surrounds the Buffaloes

The phenomenon of these politically-themed buffaloes has sparked significant online engagement, prompting local users to share their thoughts and reactions extensively. As new images emerge, the excitement surrounding these animals continues to grow, reflecting a blend of humour and curiosity that captivates locals and visitors alike.

Events surrounding the buffaloes have become a cultural moment in the lead-up to Eid, bringing communities together for shared laughter and enjoyment. The intriguing intersection of animal husbandry and political satire has created a unique spectacle that resonates with many in the region.

As this situation develops, it appears likely that the fame of the Trump and Netanyahu buffaloes will linger well beyond the Eid celebrations, solidifying their status as local celebrities within Bangladesh. The blend of lightheartedness and cultural commentary surrounding these animals showcases the ways in which unexpected phenomena can capture the public imagination.
