The CSR Journal Magazine

The news surrounding the cinematic adaptation of Ramayana is gaining momentum each week. Recently, the film attracted significant attention when Sony Pictures announced its involvement in managing global distribution outside of India. As the buzz continues, an additional major player has emerged in the project: T-Series.

Details of the Music Rights Acquisition

Reports indicate that several prominent music labels were competing to acquire the esteemed audio rights for the film. Ultimately, T-Series distinguished itself with a successful bid, leading to the completion of the agreement.

An insider from T-Series confirmed the acquisition, stating, “T-Series has secured the music rights for Ramayana. Bhushan Kumar, along with the senior management team, express considerable confidence in the potential of the film’s soundtrack.”

Furthermore, the insider disclosed that T-Series has made an advance payment of Rs. 75 crores for the music rights covering both segments of Ramayana. Importantly, it was clarified that this amount is structured as a refundable advance.

Significance of the Deal

This arrangement is among the largest music-rights transactions ever negotiated by an Indian music label. The substantial deal not only highlights T-Series’ leading position within the music industry but also raises expectations for the soundtrack of Ramayana, which is anticipated to be one of the year’s most significant cinematic experiences.

Ramayana features a distinguished cast, including Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash portraying Ravana, Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, and Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. Nitesh Tiwari, known for his previous success with Dangal (2016), directs the film, while Namit Malhotra is the producer. Renowned composers A R Rahman and Hans Zimmer are responsible for the music, adding considerable prestige to the project.

The film is planned as a two-part saga. The first installment is set to be released during Diwali in 2026, while the second part is scheduled for launch on Diwali in 2027, generating further anticipation within the industry and among audiences alike.
