Kangana Ranaut has defended her recent comments labelling certain Gen Z protesters as part of the “generation gutter.” In an Instagram video shared on Guru Purnima, Ranaut articulated her disapproval of what she described as “obscene behaviour” during protests led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) regarding the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. She emphasised that such conduct should not be accepted in society.

In her remarks to journalists, Ranaut expressed concern about demonstrators exhibiting behaviour that she deemed inappropriate for public settings, particularly in the presence of children, women, and the elderly. She underscored that society should not normalise acts that expose young individuals to sexually explicit language or actions.

Media Attention and Personal Accomplishments

Ranaut also levelled criticism at specific sections of the media for focusing solely on the backlash from her statement while overlooking her recognition of students and young achievers. She stated that she had commended Indian startups and congratulated NEET aspirants. Ranaut highlighted that many youths around her, including family members and her own team, are diligent and responsible.

Addressing queries from commentators questioning why the responsibility of maintaining dignity falls on women, she firmly rejected this notion. According to Ranaut, discipline and respect for societal norms are fundamental for coexisting harmoniously, and cannot be considered optional.

She asserted that personal freedom should not encroach upon the rights and feelings of others, suggesting that public behaviour must adhere to both constitutional and social standards. Ranaut maintained that individuals should consider the emotions of those around them, whether related to family, religious figures, or political leaders.

Kangana’s Stance on Feminism and Behavioural Norms

Ranaut concluded her video by extending wishes for Guru Purnima to her followers, reaffirming her beliefs about the significance of dignity and behaviour in society.

The actor’s comments come amidst a continuing online clash with CJP spokesperson Saurav Das. Earlier in the week, Das had mocked Ranaut, alleging that even members of her party do not take her seriously. In turn, Ranaut responded by questioning his credentials as a student and labelled him “useless and unemployed” in a series of Instagram Stories, thus showcasing her own accomplishments prior to entering politics.

This ongoing exchange follows weeks of tension between Ranaut and CJP leaders over the national protests sparked by allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination. While the demonstrations have since subsided, the discord between the actor-politician and the organisation remains visible on social media platforms.
