Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has declared plans for a ‘National Town Hall Against E20’ set for August 1 at the Constitution Club of India. This event aims to provide a platform for discussing methods to urge the central government to reconsider the introduction of E20 petrol in the market. Kejriwal expressed the significance of the issue, indicating that it has gathered considerable public interest.

As part of the preparations, the party launched an online petition advocating for E20 to be optional, which has reportedly garnered nearly two lakh signatures. Kejriwal stated that he intends to deliver this petition to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s residence following the town hall session, highlighting the collective demand for reconsideration by concerned citizens.

During the announcement, Kejriwal invited the public to attend in large numbers, emphasising that experts and individuals experiencing difficulties with their vehicles due to E20 fuel are particularly welcome. Additionally, for those interested in participating virtually, he provided a contact number to receive an online link for the event.

Kejriwal’s Statement on Education in Punjab

On a related note, Kejriwal addressed ongoing allegations concerning a purported paper leak in Punjab, firmly denying these claims. He argued that under the leadership of the AAP, there have been no incidents of paper leaks during the past decade in Delhi, or in the five years of governance in Punjab. He attributed the continuation of such scandals to states governed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Kejriwal contended that the BJP lacks viable opposition points against the Punjab government and thus resorts to what he described as misinformation. The discourse around the education system in Punjab seems pivotal in light of these accusations, suggesting that Kejriwal seeks to bolster the AAP’s standing amidst educational reforms.

In response to his remarks, BJP’s Delhi president, Harsh Malhotra, accused Kejriwal of dishonesty, asserting that the issue of the alleged paper leak has been a prominent topic nationwide for the last fortnight. He mentioned that previous leaks had occurred and pointed out police actions against students demanding accountability from the Education Minister of Punjab, Sardar Harjot Singh Bains.
