Apple Appoints John Ternus As New CEO Starting September 1

The CSR Journal Magazine

Apple’s new Chief Executive Officer, John Ternus, will officially take charge on September 1. Just two weeks following his appointment, Ternus is anticipated to unveil several long-awaited products, including the foldable iPhone and the iPhone 18 Pro models. The foldable iPhone is expected to be one of Apple’s most significant innovations in the past decade.

Reports suggest that the outgoing CEO, Tim Cook, is leaving behind a robust pipeline of devices, which will be made available in the coming years. According to a recent Bloomberg report, this upcoming product line is projected to exceed the variety of offerings Cook inherited when he succeeded Steve Jobs in 2011.

Under Cook’s leadership, Apple introduced several landmark products, such as the Siri voice assistant, the iPhone 5, iPad Mini, and thinner iMacs. Cook also oversaw the launch of the Apple Watch, AirPods, and Vision Pro, marking Apple’s expansion into multiple product categories.

Potential New Devices in Development

Bloomberg’s report indicates that Apple is actively developing a range of new Macs and iPads, with many of these devices set to launch soon. Among the anticipated products are touchscreen MacBooks, which are planned for release by late 2026 or early 2027. There is also speculation about a 20-inch foldable iPad on Ternus’s priority list, although it is uncertain if this product will ultimately launch.

Moreover, Apple has recently introduced its Vision Pro in 2024, but it has not seen any subsequent updates. The company is reportedly working on augmented reality glasses, aiming to provide digital overlays on real-world views, with an expected release timeframe between 2028 and 2030.

In addition to standard consumer electronics, Apple is venturing into the realm of AI-powered camera wearables. These new smart glasses are designed to capture media and gather data for AI applications, competing directly with the Meta Ray-Ban glasses. Features are anticipated to include music playback, Siri activation, and phone call capabilities.

AI-Driven Smart Home Devices on the Horizon

Bloomberg has detailed that Apple is also focusing on AI-powered smart home devices. A new smart home hub is being developed, incorporating a unique operating system designed for Siri to effectively manage household tasks. This device is expected to include features such as FaceTime and a facial recognition system for personalised user experiences.

Additionally, there are proposals for a tabletop robot that acts as a smart home hub, equipped with a robotic limb to adjust the screen for optimal video conferencing. Apple is reportedly looking to launch a home security system prioritising privacy, complete with sensors and cameras that will compete with existing products from Google Nest and Ring.

It is essential to approach this information with caution, as Apple has yet to confirm any details about these forthcoming products. Some items may not come to fruition, and changes to the development strategy could occur at any point, affecting the product timeline.
