Anthropic has introduced its latest artificial intelligence model, Claude Opus 4.7, which is now available for general users. This release follows the announcement of the Claude Mythos model, which was restricted to a select group of companies due to its advanced capabilities. The newly launched model is touted to enhance a variety of tasks compared to its predecessor, Claude Opus 4.6, particularly in software engineering and visual reasoning.

Capabilities of Claude Opus 4.7

Claude Opus 4.7 demonstrates significant improvements in several domains, particularly in executing complex, long-duration tasks with heightened accuracy and reliability. The model is adept at handling intricate coding assignments that previously required close supervision from developers. This ability is expected to reduce the need for human oversight in various tasks.

Another key feature of Opus 4.7 is its enhanced capacity to process high-resolution images, accommodating visuals of up to 2,576 pixels. This advancement allows the model to interpret detailed screenshots and complicated diagrams more effectively than earlier versions. Despite its advancements, Claude Opus 4.7 is said to use more tokens than prior models, as reported by Boris Cherny, the head of Claude Code. In anticipation of this increased consumption, the company has adjusted its token limits for users, reassuring them that they will not exceed their limits while using the new model. Relation Between Claude Opus 4.7 and Mythos

Anthropic clarified that Claude Opus 4.7 operates independently from the Mythos model, stating that it serves as an evolution of Opus 4.6 rather than a direct derivative. Positioned between previous models and the Mythos model, Opus 4.7 is designed to be versatile while incorporating additional safeguards.

While Claude Mythos is recognised for its superior capabilities in cybersecurity, its availability is limited to approximately 40 companies, including industry leaders like Microsoft, Google, and Amazon. This restriction stems from concerns that Mythos could be exploited by malicious parties due to its remarkable ability to detect cybersecurity vulnerabilities.

Although Claude Opus 4.7 incorporates cybersecurity features, it is designed with more limitations compared to Mythos. The model is equipped to automatically block high-risk requests pertaining to cybersecurity, ensuring it can mitigate potential misuse of its functionalities.

Access and Pricing of Claude Opus 4.7

The rollout of Claude Opus 4.7 covers all Claude products and cloud platforms, including popular services such as Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud’s Vertex AI, and Microsoft Foundry. In an effort to maintain consistency for users, Anthropic has priced the new model similarly to Opus 4.6, with charges set at $5 (approximately Rs 465) per million input tokens and $25 (around Rs 2,325) per million output tokens.
