The CSR Journal Magazine

The film Alpha, featuring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, has successfully crossed the global collection of Rs 70 crore. On Tuesday, it recorded a notable increase in collections compared to the previous day, earning approximately Rs 4.25 crore nett in India. This boost has helped the film maintain a steady trajectory in its box office journey.

As reported by trade platform Sacnilk, Alpha was screened across 7,173 shows on Day Five. With this additional revenue, the film’s total nett collection in India now stands at Rs 42.10 crore, contributing to a gross collection of Rs 50.23 crore domestically.

Internationally, Alpha added Rs 1.50 crore to its earnings on Tuesday, accumulating a total overseas gross of Rs 19.80 crore. This brings the film’s overall worldwide gross collection to Rs 70.03 crore.

Box Office Growth Over the Opening Weekend

By the end of its opening weekend, the total nett collection in India reached an estimated Rs 34 crore, while the worldwide figure stood at Rs 58.80 crore. However, on the following Monday, the film earned Rs 3.85 crore nett across 6,997 shows, before witnessing a slight increase on Tuesday.

Overall, Alpha has shown resilience at the box office, indicating a solid reception among viewers. Its total India nett collection now represents a significant milestone for the film as it continues its journey in theatres.

Critical Reception and Audience Response

Despite its encouraging box office performance, Alpha has garnered a mixed response from critics. India Today, for instance, rated the film 2.5 stars, acknowledging Alia Bhatt’s commendable performance as Sita, while also pointing out issues with the screenplay. The review highlighted the film’s inconsistent narrative as a major drawback, suggesting that its attempt to incorporate numerous twists may have detracted from the overall viewer experience.

The critique pointed to an unevenness in the storytelling that affects its ability to sustain intrigue. Rather than building a coherent suspenseful narrative, the screenplay focuses heavily on generating shock value, which some viewers may find less engaging.

Alpha is directed by Shiv Rawail and penned by Uday Chopra. Alongside Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, the film features notable performances from actors such as Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Dia Mirza, further contributing to its appeal within the YRF Spy Universe series.
