Apple has announced a significant security update across its various devices, aiming to fix a total of over 225 vulnerabilities. This update includes iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6, and macOS Tahoe 26.6, along with updates for Apple Watch, Apple TV, and Vision Pro. The company has advised users to install these updates to ensure their devices are protected.

Security Enhancements in iOS and iPadOS

The recent updates for iOS 26.6 and iPadOS 26.6 reportedly address more than 75 security issues. According to Apple’s security advisory, one of the most concerning vulnerabilities could have allowed harmful applications to gain root or kernel-level access. In total, the iOS update includes 78 security fixes linked to 87 Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) identifiers. Users are urged to update promptly to mitigate potential risks.

Among the critical vulnerabilities fixed are those that could permit apps to bypass code-signing protections, add contacts without users’ consent, or expose sensitive information through iPhone Mirroring. Furthermore, Apple noted the resolution of vulnerabilities related to ImageIO and SceneKit, which could possibly execute malicious code when certain types of files are opened.

In addition, the update enhances the security of the iPhone’s kernel, crucial for managing system resources and hardware. Apple addressed multiple vulnerabilities that could lead to kernel memory corruption, bypass network protections, expose sensitive data, or cause unexpected device crashes.

MacOS Tahoe Update and Its Significance

The macOS Tahoe 26.6 update offers an even broader range of fixes, reportedly patching 155 unique security vulnerabilities. This includes issues that could allow malicious applications to gain root access or bypass security measures like Gatekeeper. Apple has also released specific security updates for older macOS versions, ensuring comprehensive protection for users across different systems.

Among the serious vulnerabilities addressed in macOS are those allowing apps to escape sandbox restrictions or access protected user data. The scale of this update highlights Apple’s commitment to device security and user privacy, particularly for Mac users, who often handle sensitive information.
