Accused Side Demands CBI Investigation in Twisha Sharma Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

The accused side in the Twisha Sharma case is advocating for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Advocate Mrigendra Singh, representing the accused, stated on Thursday that the family of the accused, Samarth Singh, is keen for the CBI to take over the case. Singh communicated with ANI, asserting that they have formally submitted a bail application for Singh in the High Court, which is expected to be reviewed soon.

Twisha Sharma allegedly took her own life on May 12. Her mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, has already been granted bail by the Bhopal Court. Singh indicated that the anticipatory bail application filed for Samarth Singh was rejected in Bhopal, prompting the current appeal in the High Court.

In a statement, Singh remarked, “What her father has said is false. All this is done to garner sympathy. We also want this to be investigated by the CBI.” This reflects the ongoing contention between the families involved in the case and highlights the necessity for further examination of the circumstances surrounding Twisha’s death.

Twisha’s Family Pursues Legal Action

Meanwhile, Twisha Sharma’s family is taking legal steps to challenge the bail granted to Giribala Singh. Their counsel, Ankur Pandey, announced that a petition will be lodged in the Jabalpur High Court to revoke her anticipatory bail. This move underscores the family’s firm stance on seeking justice for Twisha, who they claim suffered from mental abuse and dowry-related harassment from her in-laws.

Pandey also mentioned a petition would be filed for a second post-mortem examination of Twisha’s body, which is currently at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhopal following the autopsy conducted on May 13. The family’s desire for a re-evaluation of the circumstances surrounding her death indicates serious concerns regarding the initial investigation findings.

Additionally, Pandey called for investigations into parties connected with Giribala Singh. He pointed out that certain phone numbers, which had previously been presented in court, were not adequately followed up by the police. This is seen as a critical aspect of the ongoing investigation, as the family has pursued its own inquiries into Twisha’s death.

Court Outcomes and Ongoing Investigations

A recent decision by a sessions court in Bhopal denied a request for a repeat post-mortem examination and forensic analysis at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi. This dismissal may impact the family’s quest for clarity and justice concerning Twisha’s death.

Twisha Sharma married Samarth Singh, a resident of Bhopal, in December 2025. Since her death on May 12, her family has levelled allegations of mental torment and dowry harassment against her in-laws, which has led to police action against both her husband and mother-in-law. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been appointed to examine the situation comprehensively.

The case has drawn considerable attention, raising issues concerning domestic abuse and the legal responsibilities of the family members involved. As investigations continue, the implications of the findings will be crucial for both families and the judicial process.
