YouTuber Arrested for Deliberately Crashing into Women and Girls for Viral Content

A YouTuber has been taken into custody by Delhi Police for allegedly colliding with women riders and minor girls to create viral videos. The accused, identified as 32-year-old Gurman Singh, reportedly aimed to enhance his online presence and financial gains through this troubling activity. His social media handle, titled “Road Safety Wala,” was the platform where these incidents were made public.

The case surfaced following a complaint lodged on June 2, where a father reported that his minor daughters had been intentionally struck by two unidentified men while riding their scooter. The complainant claimed that the men not only hit the scooter but also followed the girls, making inappropriate remarks and using abusive language.

Upon further investigation, it was discovered that videos featuring the complainant’s daughters had been uploaded on platforms such as YouTube and Facebook. This prompted the police to initiate an inquiry under the relevant provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, leading to the registration of a formal case.

Investigation and Arrest

An analysis of the accused’s social media presence revealed that his videos predominantly targeted women and young girls. In the course of gathering technological evidence, law enforcement officials arrested Gurman Singh. Reports indicate that he confessed during interrogation that his motivations behind creating such videos were to gain social media followers and increase revenue through monetisation.

Gurman Singh allegedly stated that he specifically sought out women riders and minor girls as his subjects to maximise engagement online. He reportedly admitted to deliberately crashing into their vehicles, after which he would feign remorse by apologising with phrases like, “Sorry didi.” These actions were captured on video, which he uploaded without the consent of those involved.

According to police, the accused formulated a systematic approach, allegedly preying on vulnerable individuals. He was said to selectively identify woman riders and male riders with minors to create shocking content aimed at an unsuspecting audience. This strategic targeting underlines the disturbing nature of his actions as he sought to exploit the situations for personal gratification and profit.

Social Media Impact and Responses

The revelations regarding Gurman Singh’s activities have raised significant concerns about the safety of women and children on the roads as well as the broader implications of social media platforms in enabling such behaviour. The police’s swift response to the complaint serves as a reminder of the potential dangers present in everyday interactions, particularly in urban settings.

In light of this case, officials are urging individuals to exercise caution and report any similar incidents to the authorities immediately. The incident has also sparked discussions around the need for enhanced regulations and oversight on social media platforms to curtail the dissemination of harmful content and protect victims from unsolicited exploitation.

As investigators continue their work, questions persist regarding the responsibility of social media sites in monitoring content and the role of their algorithms in promoting sensationalism at the expense of human dignity. The need for a comprehensive approach to ensure digital spaces remain safe is becoming increasingly urgent.
