Yogi Govt Enhances Farmers’ Prosperity with Fast Payments and Increased Procurement in UP

The CSR Journal Magazine

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is taking significant strides in ensuring economic prosperity for its farmers. The state government has made substantial progress in supporting the farming community by providing immediate payments and implementing a transparent procurement system.

With paddy and millet procurement ongoing, farmers in Uttar Pradesh have already received payments worth ₹2,131.38 crore as of November 28, 2025, for their produce.

Fast Payments and Support for Farmers

As per the directives of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government has committed to making payments to paddy and millet farmers within 48 hours. By the end of November, farmers have already received ₹1868.35 crore for paddy and ₹263.03 crore for millet. This timely disbursement is part of the Yogi government’s broader efforts to ensure that farmers get remunerative prices for their crops, without the interference of middlemen.

Between October 1st and November 28th, over 1.4 lakh farmers sold their paddy at government procurement centres. For millet, approximately 22,000 farmers have sold their produce, with more than 64,000 farmers already registered. These farmers have benefited from the government’s Minimum Support Price (MSP) policy, which guarantees fair prices for their crops.

Procurement Prices and MSP Fixation

The Yogi government has fixed the MSP for paddy at ₹2,369 per quintal for common varieties and ₹2,389 per quintal for Grade A paddy. For millet, the MSP has been set at ₹2,775 per quintal, with procurement taking place in 33 districts across Uttar Pradesh. The state government has set up 281 procurement centres for millet, ensuring that farmers have access to the government’s support system.

Paddy procurement began in October, and the system is being continuously monitored to prevent any disruptions. CM Yogi recently held a meeting to ensure that the procurement process runs smoothly and that maximum numbers of farmers benefit from the MSP. The introduction of biometric verification through e-pop machines, the elimination of middlemen, and quick payments have all contributed to a transparent and farmer-friendly system.

Empowering Farmers Through Transparency and Support

The state’s efforts are designed to increase the income of farmers and promote their self-reliance. The Yogi government’s system aims to eliminate any intermediary involvement in the procurement process, ensuring farmers receive their due share directly from the government. The introduction of biometric verification and the disbursement of payments within 48 hours have made the system more transparent and efficient.

Furthermore, relief measures have been extended to rice mills, and substantial facilities are being provided to farmers to enhance their income and confidence. These measures reflect the government’s commitment to the welfare of the agricultural community and the strengthening of the rural economy in Uttar Pradesh.
