Xiaomi 17T and 17T Pro Set for Global Launch Tomorrow

The CSR Journal Magazine

Xiaomi is poised to unveil its ‘T’ series of smartphones globally on 28 May. The highly anticipated lineup includes the Xiaomi 17T and the Xiaomi 17T Pro. While the Xiaomi 17T is confirmed to make its debut in India on 4 June, the availability of the Xiaomi 17T Pro remains uncertain. The company has not yet provided specific details regarding its release.

Prior to the global launch, Xiaomi has shared significant information about the Xiaomi 17T Pro. This upcoming model is expected to break new ground by featuring the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, built on a 3nm process. This will differentiate it from previous models in the Xiaomi 17 series, which predominantly utilised Qualcomm’s Snapdragon chipsets, making it a point of interest among technology enthusiasts.

Specifications of Xiaomi 17T Pro

The Xiaomi 17T Pro is reportedly equipped with a substantial 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery. Xiaomi claims this device will be capable of delivering up to 9.5 hours of continuous video recording on a single charge. Additional specifications, including pricing information, are still pending, but prior leaks may provide insight into the expected features of the smartphones.

Tipster Abhishek Yadav noted on X (formerly Twitter) that the Xiaomi 17T is likely to start at PHP 33,999 (approximately Rs 52,700) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration. A higher variant with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage is expected to be priced at PHP 37,999 (around Rs 58,900). In comparison, the Xiaomi 17T Pro may debut at PHP 45,999 (roughly Rs 71,400) for the same RAM and storage specifications, with the premium model potentially costing PHP 47,999 (approximately Rs 74,500).

Interestingly, these price predictions for the Southeast Asian market are comparatively lower than earlier estimates for Europe. Reports suggested the Xiaomi 17T might launch in Europe at EUR 749 (about Rs 83,000), while the Xiaomi 17T Pro could be priced at EUR 999 (roughly Rs 1.1 lakh), indicating a potential variance in pricing strategies across different regions.

Expected Specifications of Xiaomi 17T

The Xiaomi 17T is anticipated to feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1.5K and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It may be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, enhancing its performance capabilities. Further enhancing its appeal, the smartphone is expected to come equipped with a Leica-branded triple rear camera setup, which may consist of two 50-megapixel sensors along with a 12-megapixel camera for diverse photographic needs.

On the front, the device is likely to house a 32-megapixel selfie camera, appealing to users who prioritise high-quality self-portraits. In terms of battery life, the Xiaomi 17T is expected to feature a 6,500mAh battery and may run on Android 16. The smartphone could also support dual-SIM functionality and possess an IP68 rating, making it resistant to dust and water.

As preparations continue for the launch, users and tech enthusiasts are keenly awaiting further announcements from Xiaomi regarding features, pricing, and availability. The global debut is expected to attract significant attention, especially among followers of the tech industry.
