The Madhya Pradesh Cabinet conducted a meeting on July 28, 2026, chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. During this gathering, decisions were made concerning various initiatives and projects with a total estimated investment of approximately Rs 2,480 crore. These initiatives are aimed at fostering comprehensive development across the state, focusing particularly on infrastructure, irrigation, and public welfare.

Key decisions during the meeting included the approval of significant funds for sports, women’s empowerment, and technology. The Cabinet expressed its commitment to propelling the state towards modernisation while ensuring that substantial resources are allocated to improve the lives of its citizens.

Funding for Sports and Irrigation Projects

Among the notable allocations, the Cabinet granted in-principle approval of Rs 18.74 crore for hosting the Women’s Asian Hockey Champions Trophy, set to take place in Bhopal in October 2026. This event is expected to enhance global awareness of Madhya Pradesh’s sporting capabilities and promote tourism in the region.

Additionally, the Council allocated Rs 111.04 crore for the Rihand Micro Irrigation Project, which is scheduled to operate from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2031. This project aims to irrigate 38,000 hectares across 119 villages by drawing water from the Govind Ballabh Pant Sagar Reservoir. Furthermore, the Cabinet sanctioned Rs 184.20 crore for the Malhargarh Pressurised Major Lift Irrigation Project in Mandsaur, which is designed to benefit 46,500 hectares within the district.

Investment in Technology and Administrative Capacity

To bolster the state’s technology landscape, the Cabinet earmarked Rs 857.21 crore for various initiatives under the Science and Technology Department. This includes a notable Rs 85.51 crore dedicated to establishing a Drone Technology Centre of Excellence at the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research in Bhopal. Such initiatives are expected to promote technological advancement in the region.

Additionally, Rs 595 crore was allocated to continue the IT Park Establishment Scheme until 2031, anticipated to generate over 8,000 employment opportunities for local youth and attract investments. Further funds were approved for digital governance initiatives, encompassing AI, machine learning, and cybersecurity, among other advancements.

The Cabinet also approved Rs 129.12 crore for the ongoing functioning of the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management, aimed at supporting various training programmes and administrative development efforts.

Welfare Schemes and Judicial Improvements

As part of its welfare agenda, the Cabinet allocated Rs 198.59 crore towards the implementation of Mission Shakti schemes, which include initiatives to empower women between 2026-27 and 2030-31. These schemes are designed to promote women’s rights and improve socioeconomic conditions.

Moreover, Rs 982.49 crore was sanctioned for the continued execution of welfare, pension, provident fund, and insurance schemes until March 2031. These funding initiatives aim to enhance the overall welfare of state employees and their families.

The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a new electrical safety office in Gwalior and appointed nine new judicial positions, including that of a District and Additional Sessions Judge in Narayangarh, Mandsaur. These actions are aimed at enhancing judicial efficiency and increasing access to justice.
