The CSR Journal Magazine

Uttarakhand Police organised a comprehensive security rehearsal in Dehradun in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on April 14. This rehearsal was aimed at meticulously reviewing all security protocols associated with the upcoming events. Various aspects including traffic management, crowd control, and overall security measures were rigorously tested during this session.

Following the rehearsal, the Director General of Police (DGP), Deepam Seth, conducted a thorough review with all gazetted police officers present at Police Lines in Dehradun. The meeting focused on finalising security arrangements, ensuring that they are executed with precision and reliability. The DGP reiterated the importance of coordination among different units to ensure an effective response on the day of the visit.

During the briefing, the DGP emphasised the need for a vigilant and responsive approach by all personnel, particularly in light of the current security environment. He instructed officers to uphold high standards of conduct and to be well-prepared regarding their specific roles during the event.

Security Measures Implemented for the Event

For the public event, various security measures will be implemented to ensure safety. Designated entry points for attendees will be equipped with Hand-Held Metal Detectors (HHMD) and Door Frame Metal Detectors (DFMD). Each attendee will undergo thorough checks before being permitted to occupy their seats. This initiative aims to maintain a secure environment, allowing only authorised items into the venue.

The authorities have also planned for adequate arrangements to facilitate the safe and orderly dispersal of attendees following the event. Additionally, to ensure security, the use of drones will be entirely prohibited in the vicinity of the venue.

The DGP highlighted the critical nature of maintaining vigilance and dedication among all officers on duty. He stressed that no lapses in security should occur and all personnel should remain alert and focused on their responsibilities throughout the event.

Prime Minister’s Schedule on April 14

On April 14, Prime Minister Modi’s itinerary includes activities in both Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. He is scheduled to arrive in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, at approximately 11:15 am for a review of the Wildlife Corridor associated with the elevated Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. This corridor is designed to enhance traffic flow in the region.

Following this, at around 11:40 am, the Prime Minister will visit the Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple, situated near Dehradun, for prayers. The final segment of his visit will involve inaugurating the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public gathering in Dehradun at approximately 12:30 PM. During this event, he will address the attendees, providing insights into the corridor’s significance.

Spanning 213 km, the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been developed at a cost exceeding Rs 12,000 crore. The newly constructed six-lane access-controlled corridor will significantly decrease the travel time between Delhi and Dehradun, reducing it from over six hours to approximately two and a half hours. This development is expected to facilitate smoother transport and enhance connectivity in the region.
