Uttarakhand’s Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, inaugurated the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited Hospital located at the Kedarnath Temple on May 8. The hospital, which is designed to serve both local residents and pilgrims, will be managed by the Swami Vivekananda Health Mission Society. This initiative aims to enhance healthcare accessibility in a region known for its difficult terrain and high altitude.

Enhancing Healthcare Services

During the inauguration, Chief Minister Dhami highlighted the continuous efforts of the state government to improve healthcare services for those visiting Kedarnath Dham. He noted that the establishment of a modern hospital equipped with advanced medical facilities would significantly bolster healthcare provisions in the area. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that this facility would be advantageous for pilgrims during their yatra and would also benefit the local population.

Dhami underscored the prioritisation of healthcare services along the yatra route, stating that extensive arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and organised pilgrimage. These provisions include the deployment of doctors, paramedical staff, health check-up centres, oxygen facilities, and emergency medical services to mitigate any potential inconveniences for the devotees.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to fostering healthcare improvements, aligning with the vision of “Healthy Uttarakhand, Prosperous Uttarakhand.” He shared that approximately 6.1 million Ayushman cards have already been distributed under the Ayushman scheme. This initiative allows numerous patients in the state to receive free medical treatment, further underscoring the government’s efforts to enhance health services.

Future Plans for Medical Infrastructure

In addition to the newly inaugurated hospital, Chief Minister Dhami announced plans to establish one medical college in every district of Uttarakhand, further expanding the healthcare infrastructure in the state. He noted that such advancements are crucial for accommodating the increasing healthcare needs of both residents and visitors.

During the visit, Dhami also participated in a prayer session at Baba Kedar, seeking prosperity and well-being for the people of the state. He remarked that Kedarnath Dham represents not only a place of spiritual significance but also serves as a beacon of service and humanity. The government remains focused on enhancing healthcare and public facilities within Devbhoomi, in line with this spirit.

Kedarnath MLA Asha Nautiyal, speaking at the event, described the hospital as an exemplary model of service and dedication to public welfare. She stated that the facility is poised to play a vital role in delivering improved healthcare services to both devotees and local residents in the future.
