US President Trump States Iran Deal Will Remain Blocked Until “100% Completion”

The CSR Journal Magazine

US President Donald Trump asserted on April 18 that any agreement with Iran will not be implemented until it is fully finalised. His comments were made during the Turning Point USA event in Phoenix, Arizona, where he highlighted both diplomatic and security advancements regarding Tehran, Israel, and Lebanon.

Trump specifically mentioned the Strait of Hormuz, declaring it open for business and free passage. He cited the strength of the US Navy, referring to it as the greatest in the world, and stated that the naval blockade would remain in effect until the transaction with Iran is “100% complete and fully signed.”

The President also discussed developments related to nuclear security, asserting that the United States will eliminate all nuclear materials it possesses in relation to Iran. He noted that no financial transactions would occur until these issues are resolved.

US Involvement in Lebanon

He referred to the agreement as “unprecedented” and reiterated his objective to improve Lebanon’s circumstances, stating, “We will make Lebanon great again.” This statement reflects the administration’s ongoing commitment to addressing Middle Eastern geopolitical tensions.

Despite the advancements, negotiations continue amid heightened tensions. Trump has publicly maintained that discussions with Iran are active but emphasised the need for stringent conditions to be met for any final accord.

Ongoing Negotiations with Iran

President Trump conveyed optimism about the Iran negotiations, indicating that talks would persist over the weekend as efforts intensify towards reaching a potential agreement. He stated that ongoing discussions have been constructive, asserting that significant progress is being made.

In response to concerns raised by Iranian officials regarding possible gaps in the negotiations, Trump remarked that if discrepancies exist, they must be addressed. He expressed confidence that there are no substantial differences preventing an agreement.

Emphasising the continuation of the US naval blockade on Iranian ports, Trump reiterated that it will be lifted only after a formal agreement is finalised. He noted that this blockade would remain in force “until such time as our transaction with Iran is 100% complete.” Furthermore, he claimed that Iran had ostensibly “agreed to everything” during discussions, including collaboration on eliminating enriched uranium, although this has been firmly denied by Iranian representatives.
