The Delhi Police apprehended two individuals who are reportedly part of a gang that impersonated police officers to rob a man of Rs 50 lakh in cash in Pitampura. The robbery occurred on May 9 when Savaram, a resident of Sirohi in Rajasthan, arrived in the area with a friend to deliver cash on behalf of his employer. As they made their way towards Tarun Enclave after exiting an autorickshaw, they were confronted by two men who claimed to be police personnel.
During the encounter, the suspects seized the victim’s bag, which contained a substantial amount of money, and fled the scene on a motorcycle. Initially, the victim reported the stolen amount to be Rs 9 lakh, but later clarified that it totaled Rs 50 lakh, prompting the police to take further action.
Police Action and Investigation
Following the robbery, a case was filed at the Mangol Puri police station. Police quickly mobilised teams from both the Mangol Puri Police Station and the Special Staff. They utilised various investigative techniques, including analysing CCTV footage, employing technical surveillance methods, and collecting intelligence from local sources to identify the suspects.
On May 10, these efforts bore fruit when law enforcement officials successfully tracked down the suspects in Gohana, located in the Sonipat district of Haryana. The accused have been identified as Vinay, also known as Monty, aged 20, and Kuldeep, aged 30. Police also apprehended a juvenile who was allegedly part of the operation.
The police’s swift response led to the recovery of Rs 33.50 lakh in cash, two iPhone 17 mobile phones that were reportedly acquired using the stolen funds, the bag used for carrying the money, and the motorcycle used during the crime. Authorities expressed confidence in their ability to dismantle the entire gang.
Ongoing Investigation and Future Efforts
Authorities have indicated that they are actively pursuing additional gang members connected to this case. Efforts are ongoing to recover the remainder of the stolen amount, and further investigations are in progress to gather more evidence and details about the criminal network involved in this incident.
The case highlights the importance of vigilance among the public and the need for law enforcement agencies to work collaboratively in order to tackle crime effectively. Police are determined to enhance their efforts to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.
As investigations continue, law enforcement encourages anyone who may have information related to the case to come forward. They aim to ensure justice for the victim and hold all individuals involved in this incident accountable.
