Alia Bhatt Showcases Three Distinct Saree Styles at Wedding Celebrations

The CSR Journal Magazine

Alia Bhatt, a close friend of Akansha Ranjan, attended her wedding and offered fashion inspiration through her choice of attire at each event, particularly at the cocktail celebration. On this occasion, she wore a striking purple saree from an unreleased Ekaya x Ashdeen collection, making her the first to showcase this collaboration. The saree’s unique draping technique instantly captured attention, aligning with the current trend of purple hues.

This exclusive piece featured a combination of two esteemed textile traditions: Parsi Gara embroidery and Banarasi weaving. The saree, inspired by a 19th-century Silk Route motif, elegantly merged Persian, Chinese, and Indian influences. Its rich purple base was highlighted by intricate silver motifs, with a subtle hint of yellow peeking through the pallu, adding depth and striking contrast to the outfit.

In terms of makeup and accessories, Alia opted for a dewy finish, softly defined eyes, and a sleek bun to complement her look. Minimalistic gold jewellery included a slim choker, matching earrings, and several rings, enhancing the overall presentation of her outfit.

The Wedding Ceremony

During the wedding ceremony, Alia continued to embrace her love for sarees, this time opting for a ruffled design by Punit Balana. The standout feature of her ensemble was the sleeveless blouse, which showcased a high-neck cut-out and an open back, adding a modern twist to her traditional attire. Embroidered borders and a handcrafted marodi border with contrasting dry henna detailing brought additional texture and visual interest to her look.

To complete her outfit, Alia accessorised with a matching deep teal-grey potli bag, also from Punit Balana, adorned with tassels. Her jewellery selection included a statement maang tikka and kaanphool earrings, complemented by kadas and a tiny bindi. This choice highlighted the sculptural qualities of her blouse while keeping her overall aesthetic fresh and luminous. A soft pink lip added a gentle touch of colour to her appearance.

The Reception Evening

For the reception, Alia chose yet another saree, exemplifying her versatility in style. This time, she donned an Ajrakh saree designed by Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal, styled with a front-pallu drape that took cues from the Gujarati draping style. However, instead of the traditional waistband draping, the pallu was left loose and pinned at the blouse, giving her outfit a contemporary finish.

Alia’s hair remained sleek and straight, enhancing the modernity of her look. In a departure from traditional gold jewellery, she selected chunky statement silver pieces and a kundan maang tikka, creating a striking contrast with the handwoven Ajrakh saree. This distinct choice in accessories exemplified her ability to blend traditional and contemporary elements effectively.

Throughout the three celebratory events, Alia Bhatt showcased three uniquely styled sarees, each reflecting her distinctive approach to traditional attire. Her fashion choices stood out, providing inspiration for those looking to style sarees in innovative ways, proving that versatility and creativity can elevate traditional garments significantly.
