The tragic incident in North West Delhi’s Jahangirpuri area resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man, who was reportedly stabbed during a dispute concerning a cigarette. The victim, identified as Arbaaz, resided in C-Block and was the primary financial supporter of his family, earning his living at a local jewellery shop. The events unfolded around 11 PM on Thursday, coinciding with Eid celebrations at his home.

While his family observed the festive occasion, Arbaaz became involved in an altercation with local youths. What began as a verbal dispute escalated rapidly, leading to a violent confrontation. Witnesses reported that the accused attacked Arbaaz with knives, inflicting multiple stab wounds.

Family’s Account of the Incident

In the aftermath, Arbaaz’s family described the horror of witnessing his sudden demise. His brother, Mohammad Rizwan, claimed that the accused had allegedly conspired to harm Arbaaz for a week prior to the incident. The conflict over a cigarette led to confrontation in a narrow lane, where they supposedly ambushed him and resorted to stabbing him when he attempted to defend himself.

Taufiq, another brother of Arbaaz, recounted the moment he received a call from Arbaaz. He stated, “He said that some boys had surrounded him and asked me to come quickly. By the time I arrived, he was already under attack.” He attempted to intervene but claimed another individual stabbed Arbaaz multiple times as he struggled to pull him away from the main aggressor.

The family expressed deep sorrow and disbelief at the violent turn of events. The joyous atmosphere of Eid celebrations was shattered, leaving them in mourning over the loss of their loved one.

Police Investigation and Community Response

Following the incident, local police began an investigation, utilizing information from eyewitnesses and community inputs. They successfully apprehended three minors allegedly involved in the murder. The investigation aims to elucidate how the seemingly minor dispute escalated into such a tragic outcome, leading to the death of a young man.

Authorities are exploring the possibility of additional suspects, as some reports indicate that there were six minors and one adult involved in the incident. The adult reportedly has a criminal history, including involvement in a murder case from the previous year.

To maintain law and order and mitigate any potential communal tensions, law enforcement has deployed a significant number of personnel in the area. As the community grapples with the aftermath of this violent event, officials are urging residents to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing inquiries.
