Three Arrested in Gujarat for Attacking Cops, Vandalising Vehicle

The police have detained three individuals allegedly involved in an assault on police personnel and the subsequent vandalism of a police vehicle in Ambaji, Gujarat, on Sunday evening. The incident unfolded when a group of individuals reportedly engaged in a confrontation with a couple travelling on a motorcycle in Area No. 8.

According to the police report, the altercation escalated as the accused allegedly began to verbally abuse and harass the couple, prompting them to contact the authorities. When the police responded, their attempts to diffuse the situation were met with hostility, leading to an aggressive reaction from the assailants.

The accused are reported to have attacked the police personnel, resulting in injuries, and subsequently damaged the police vehicle by throwing stones and striking it with wooden sticks. Videos capturing the incident circulated rapidly on social media, drawing significant public attention.

Police Response and Arrests

In the wake of the attack, the Ambaji Police initiated a thorough investigation and formed multiple teams to apprehend the suspects. Following swift action, two individuals were arrested shortly thereafter, with the third reportedly detained later. This decisive response by law enforcement has been noted and appreciated by local residents.

On Monday evening, the police escorted all three suspects back to the site of the incident to reconstruct the sequence of events as part of the ongoing investigation. The authorities aim to gather additional evidence to clarify the details surrounding the assault and the circumstances leading to it.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dinesh, Vikabhai, and Kalubhai. Authorities stated that further inquiries are being conducted to ascertain whether they have been involved in any other criminal activities prior to this incident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police V.B. Barad from the Danta Division confirmed that the dispute began following an argument involving the couple in Area No. 8. He elaborated that what started as a verbal confrontation escalated into physical violence against both the police and the vehicle.

Legal proceedings are now underway, with the police gathering evidence necessary to build a case against the accused. The swift action taken by the police has been commended by community members, reflecting a sense of reassurance regarding public safety in the area.
