A 70-year-old man was reportedly kidnapped and subjected to severe physical abuse by the family of a woman with whom his son had eloped. This incident took place in Madhya Pradesh and has garnered significant attention following the circulation of a video depicting the assault. The events transpired last month, but the video became widely known on April 24, 2023.

Details of the Elopement

On March 5, 2023, a resident of Raisen district eloped with a woman from the neighbouring Vidisha district in order to marry her. Following their elopement, the family of the woman filed a complaint the very next day. On March 7, 2023, relatives of the woman travelled to Raisen in two vehicles to inquire about their daughter’s whereabouts.

Upon their arrival, the elderly man was approached by the woman’s family, who interrogated him regarding his son and the missing girl. After failing to obtain satisfactory answers, the family reportedly assaulted the man, escalating to further violence.

Subsequently, under the guise of searching for the couple, the woman’s relatives forcibly transported the elderly man to a secluded area in their vehicles. The location was identified as Motipura village, situated in the Rajgarh district. At least 12 individuals were allegedly involved in this part of the incident.

Brutal Assault and Viral Video

Once in the secluded area, the assailants reportedly forced the elderly man to consume urine from a liquor bottle, an act that has been widely condemned. This shocking incident was captured on video, which later went viral and sparked outrage across social media platforms.

Following the release of the video, the 70-year-old man and his family visited the local police station to file a formal complaint against those involved in the assault. In light of the disturbing nature of the incident, the police began to investigate further.

The Rajgarh Police acted promptly by visiting the victim’s home to gather additional details regarding the occurrence. They have confirmed the detention of two individuals from the woman’s family in relation to the man’s complaint. Investigators are currently in the process of lodging a First Information Report (FIR) and actively searching for the other individuals involved in the incident.
