The CSR Journal Magazine

Abdul Majid Hakeem Ilahi, the Representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader in India, has expressed gratitude towards India’s citizens for their support and kindness. Speaking with ANI during the Yad-E-Shohada Programme held at Imambara Jawahar Ali Khan, Ilahi highlighted the emotional connection he feels from the Indian people. He noted that he is deeply touched by the compassion and humanitarian spirit displayed towards those facing oppression, stating that he had not anticipated such strong feelings from the Indian community.

Ilahi remarked on the unique virtues he perceives in India, commenting that the kindness, honesty, and dignity found among Indians are unparalleled in his experience. He expressed that this warmth and loyalty have a profound effect on him, enabling him to appreciate the socio-cultural fabric of India.

Longstanding India-Iran Relations

During his address, Ilahi emphasised the historical ties that bind India and Iran, citing a shared cultural heritage that spans over five millennia. He asserted that the current relationship remains robust and characterised by mutual respect and cooperation. According to Ilahi, both nations have benefitted from a legacy rooted in civilization, cultural education, and economic interchange, which continues to flourish today.

He underscored that the relationship between India and Iran is not only good but has the potential for further strengthening. Ilahi believes that this diplomatic bond enhances their collaborations across various sectors, encouraging a future filled with opportunities for both countries.

Ilahi also noted the importance of high-level discussions between the two nations, citing multiple successful conversations between the leaders of India and Iran. He reported that the Indian Prime Minister and the Iranian President have engaged in dialogue on several occasions, which has fostered a positive atmosphere for diplomatic relations.

Maritime Developments Amid Diplomatic Engagement

The backdrop of Ilahi’s remarks aligns with notable maritime activity, particularly regarding Indian shipping interests. The Indian-flagged liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker, Jag Vikram, has successfully navigated the difficult Strait, marking a significant achievement amidst a complex geopolitical landscape. This vessel represents the ninth Indian ship to traverse the region, underscoring ongoing efforts to ensure safe maritime passage for Indian vessels.

Scheduled to reach an Indian port on Tuesday, the Jag Vikram’s journey follows a temporary ceasefire between the United States and Iran, indicating a potential easing of tensions in the area. The successful passage of this ship reflects both the resilience of Indian maritime operations and the importance of international dialogue in ensuring navigational safety.

This combination of positive diplomatic exchanges and notable maritime achievements demonstrates the strengthening ties between India and Iran, as both countries navigate the complexities of international relations while focusing on cooperative growth and stability in the region.
