Rajasthan Minister Jogaram Patel has expressed his support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent announcement regarding the establishment of fast-track courts aimed at addressing paper leak incidents. He stated that this move sends a robust message against the so-called “cheating mafia” and is a significant step towards achieving justice for students impacted by examination malpractices.

In his remarks to ANI, Patel highlighted how the initiative showcases the Central Government’s dedication to implementing stringent measures against those perpetuating unfair practices in educational assessments. He referred to the Prime Minister’s commitment to ensuring that offenders face appropriate consequences.

Patel noted that requests have been made to various state governments and High Courts to set up additional fast-track courts in four more locations, mirroring the model established in Delhi. This expansion is seen as crucial in effectively tackling the growing issue of paper leak rackets.

Government Action to Deter Examination Malpractices

The decision to create fast-track courts aims to serve as a deterrent for individuals engaged in examination fraud. By ensuring swift judicial proceedings, the government hopes to curb this malaise within the education system. The initiative was announced following the Prime Minister’s statement regarding more rigid action against paper leak offenders. He revealed that the Union Cabinet would review a draft Bill aimed at establishing fast-track courts alongside imposing stricter penalties on violators.

Protests and Responses from Student Groups

Prime Minister Modi’s announcement comes after significant protests led by student organisations and the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on July 20. The demonstrations aimed to raise awareness regarding ongoing issues related to exam-related injustices. Participants faced strong opposition from law enforcement, which reportedly utilized tear gas and lathi-charge to disperse crowds approaching Parliament.

The Supreme Court has agreed to hear a plea on July 27 concerning allegations of excessive force employed by police against protesters at Jantar Mantar and other locations. This legal development adds another layer to the ongoing discourse on students’ rights and governmental responsibilities to ensure safety during demonstrations.

In light of the government’s assurances following these protests, notable activist Sonam Wangchuk concluded his hunger strike, expressing a desire for peace. He shared sentiments via social media, reflecting a hopeful outlook vis-à-vis the ongoing student agitation that may also come to a close in the near future.
