Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa Ruled Out of IPL 2026 Due to Injuries; MI Backs Recovery Process

The Mumbai Indians (MI) have officially stated that Quinton de Kock and Raj Angad Bawa will not participate in the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season because of injuries. An announcement made by MI revealed that de Kock, the South African opener, has suffered a tendon injury in his left wrist. This injury was incurred before their match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 29. A statement from MI specified that “Quinton de Kock has been ruled out due to a tendon injury in his left wrist, which he sustained prior to our home game against Sunrisers Hyderabad.”

Details of Raj Angad Bawa’s Injury

Simultaneously, all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa has been sidelined due to a ligament tear in his right thumb. This injury occurred during MI’s encounter with the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 14. The franchise confirmed that he will miss the remainder of the IPL 2026 season due to this injury. According to MI, “Raj Angad Bawa sustained a ligament tear to his right thumb during our previous match against Punjab Kings and will miss the rest of the season.”

Rehabilitation Process for the Injured Players

The Mumbai Indians have pledged to support both players during their recovery phases. De Kock and Bawa will undergo rehabilitation at home, with ongoing assistance from the MI medical team. The franchise’s statement expressed their commitment to help the players return to competitive action at the earliest opportunity. It noted, “Both Quinton and Raj Bawa will continue their rehab in their respective homes, with support and guidance from the Mumbai Indians medical team to help them return to play as soon as possible.”

As for the team’s performance in IPL 2026, the Mumbai Indians, captained by Hardik Pandya, have faced significant challenges. Currently, they find themselves eliminated from playoff contention, having secured victories in only four out of twelve matches.
