Punjabi Singer Inder Kaur Found Dead After Kidnapping, Family Demands Accountability

The CSR Journal Magazine

Punjabi singer Inder Kaur, also known as Yashinder Kaur, was discovered deceased six days following her alleged abduction at gunpoint. Her body was located in the Neelo Canal by local police during the early hours of Tuesday. The victim was reported missing after she did not return home after leaving her residence on May 13, 2026, at around 8:30 PM to purchase groceries.

According to a police complaint lodged by her brother, Jotinder Singh, Inder had taken her Ford Figo car when she vanished. The family suspected a man named Sukhwinder Singh, known as Sukha, who resided in Bhaloor village, Moga. Reports indicate that Sukhwinder had been persistently pressuring Inder to accept his marriage proposal, which she had declined.

Relationship Background and Motive

Inder and Sukhwinder allegedly became acquainted on Instagram three years prior to her kidnapping. Their friendship reportedly took a turn when Inder discovered that Sukhwinder was already married and had children. Following this revelation, she ended all contact and rejected his advances, which is believed to have instigated a deep-seated resentment in Sukhwinder.

Post-murder investigations suggest that Sukhwinder may have travelled from Canada to Punjab with the purpose of executing the crime. Authorities speculate that he, along with accomplices, intercepted Inder’s vehicle on May 13, abducted her, and subsequently took her life before disposing of her body in the canal.

It is alleged that following the crime, Sukhwinder returned to Canada via Nepal using the same route he took to arrive in Punjab. Efforts are currently underway to locate and apprehend the other individuals involved in the incident.

Police Response and Family Concerns

The police have faced scrutiny from Inder’s family regarding their handling of the case. The family claims that an FIR against Sukhwinder Singh and an associate, Karamjit Singh, was filed at the Jamalpur Police Station on May 15, two days after Inder went missing. They believe that a more prompt intervention could have led to a different outcome.

Following the recovery of Inder’s body, police transported it to the Civil Hospital in Samrala for a post-mortem examination. Jamalpur Police Station SHO Balbir Singh confirmed that a case has been registered under appropriate legal sections and that ongoing efforts are directed towards locating the fleeing accomplices.

As investigations proceed, the local community is deeply affected by the tragic loss of Inder Kaur. The case has garnered considerable attention, reflecting broader concerns over safety and support for individuals facing such dire situations. The family continues to seek justice for Inder and accountability from law enforcement agencies.
