Pune Woman and Accomplice Arrested for Pushing Fiancé to His Death From Lohagad Fort

The CSR Journal Magazine

A murder case has been filed against Siya Goyal and her friend Chetan Chaudhary after the death of Goyal’s fiancé, Ketan Agarwal, at Lohagad Fort near Pune. The event occurred on June 18, when Siya Goyal initially reported that Ketan had fallen from the fort during their visit. However, further investigation revealed suspicions of foul play, prompting police action.

Pune Rural Police Superintendent Sandeep Singh Gill confirmed that both suspects confessed to their involvement in the incident. The inquiry began with Goyal’s call to authorities, claiming Ketan had slipped and fallen, resulting in his fatal injuries.

Police Investigation and Findings

Investigators noted irregularities in Goyal’s account, particularly since Agarwal was known to be an experienced trekker. Doubts were raised by the victim’s family, leading to a more thorough investigation. Information gathered from relatives, as well as witness statements and technical evidence, indicated a premeditated act of murder.

According to Gill, both suspects had been friends for about a year and conspired together to execute the plan during the visit to Lohagad Fort. Allegedly, they attacked Ketan with an object and subsequently pushed him off the edge of the fort, leading to his death.

The police have reportedly established a timeline based on witness accounts and other evidence. Their swift response has led to the apprehension of both individuals: Chetan Chaudhary was arrested the previous night, and Siya Goyal was taken into custody the following morning.

Family Reactions and Demands for Justice

Ketan Agarwal’s father expressed profound grief at the loss of his son, stating that if Siya Goyal was apprehensive about the marriage, she could have simply refused. He shared that the couple had been engaged since February and had plans to travel abroad, indicating that Goyal’s actions were inexplicable and unfathomable to him.

He further revealed that there had been a series of unfortunate events leading up to the planned trip, including the theft of Ketan’s passport, which prevented him from travelling. The father also commended the police’s rapid resolution of the case, emphasising the need for systemic change regarding violent behaviour in society.

Ketan Agarwal’s mother demanded harsh penalties for those responsible, expressing betrayal and disbelief regarding Goyal’s actions. She described Goyal as someone she had trusted and spent time with, revealing a stark contrast between her expectations and the grim reality of the situation.

Legal Proceedings and Community Concerns

Both suspects are being presented in court as legal proceedings commence. The victim’s family has advocated for a fast-tracked trial and the strictest potential sentence for Goyal and Chaudhary. They believe that immediate and severe consequences for the accused are essential to serve as a warning against such acts of violence.

The case has ignited discussions within the community regarding the nature of personal relationships and societal behaviour, drawing attention to the severe implications of betrayal and violence. The family’s calls for justice reflect broader concerns regarding safety and trust within interpersonal relationships.

Members of the public and local organisations are reportedly urging authorities to ensure that such incidents do not repeat and highlight the importance of addressing the emotional and psychological factors that may lead individuals to commit such acts. The ongoing investigation continues to unfold as law enforcement gathers additional evidence.
