This visit forms a part of Modi’s larger six-day journey, which included stops in Indonesia and Australia. Prior to arriving in New Zealand, the Prime Minister successfully concluded a three-day visit to Australia, where he held discussions with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, reaffirming the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.

In Australia, significant agreements were reached, including a civil nuclear energy pact. Earlier, Modi’s discussions with Indonesia’s President Prabowo Subianto resulted in the signing of fourteen agreements that spanned critical minerals and maritime security. This wider tour aligns with India’s Act East Policy, which aims to enhance relationships within the Indo-Pacific region.
