President Murmu Confers 65 Padma Awards 2026 at Rashtrapati Bhavan Ceremony

The Padma Awards 2026 ceremony took place on the evening of June 23, 2026, at Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi. President Droupadi Murmu presided over the second Civil Investiture Ceremony, where she awarded a total of 65 Padma Awards to various individuals for their contributions to society.

Among the awards presented, two Padma Vibhushan, seven Padma Bhushan, and 56 Padma Shri were included. This recognition highlights the achievements of individuals across diverse fields such as arts, literature, sports, and social service, reflecting India’s commitment to honouring excellence.

Notable Recipients and Their Contributions

Among the distinguished awardees, noted actor Mammootty received the Padma Bhushan for his significant contributions to Indian cinema. Renowned singer Alka Yagnik was also honoured with the same award, recognising her impactful career in the music industry, which has left a lasting legacy in both film and independent music.

This year’s Padma Shri recipients included actor Maganti Murali Mohan and folk artist Guru Sangyusang Pongener, both of whom have made memorable contributions to the arts. Actor R Madhavan received a Padma Shri, acknowledging his versatility and influence in film and television in India. Additionally, actor Anil Kumar Rastogi was among this year’s Padma Shri laureates.

Satish Shah, a celebrated figure in Indian entertainment, was awarded posthumously. His brother, Arvind Shah, accepted the award on his behalf, representing the legacy that Satish Shah has left in the industry and among his peers.

The event saw the presence of several dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who were there to witness the recognition of these notable individuals.
