PM Modi Visits Akershus Castle in Oslo With Norwegian PM Støre

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Akershus Castle in Oslo, Norway, on Monday, accompanied by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. This visit took place shortly after Modi’s meeting with King Harald V at the Royal Palace in Oslo, where both leaders discussed the enduring relationship between India and Norway.

The Ministry of External Affairs of India reported that during the meeting with King Harald V, Modi extended greetings and well-wishes from the Indian populace while expressing admiration for Norway’s scenic beauty. In recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral relations, Modi was conferred with the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit by King Harald V. This accolade signifies Norway’s highest honour and is awarded for exceptional service in enhancing ties between Norway and the global community.

The Grand Cross represents not only the friendship between the two nations but also highlights the importance of international collaboration in areas such as trade, culture, and technology. Modi’s acceptance of this honour marks a pivotal moment in the ongoing partnership between India and Norway.

Currently, Prime Minister Modi is on a five-nation tour, with Norway being the fourth country on his itinerary. After concluding his visit in Norway, he is expected to proceed to Italy on the same day, May 19, 2023, continuing his efforts to strengthen global ties and enhance diplomatic relationships.
