PM Modi Shares G7 Family Photo, Reaffirms Commitment to Global Prosperity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday joined several world leaders for the traditional family photograph at the 52nd G7 Summit in the French resort town of Évian-les-Bains, underlining India’s continued engagement with major global economies and partner nations.

Sharing the iconic image on X, the Prime Minister said the participating leaders would continue working together to promote prosperity, sustainability and human well-being. The photograph symbolised unity among countries gathered to address pressing global challenges and strengthen international cooperation.

PM Modi Joins Leaders for Traditional G7 Photograph

The family photograph featured leaders from G7 countries and invited partner nations standing together in a show of solidarity. Among those captured alongside PM Modi were European Council President Antonio Costa, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, US President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, Kenyan President William Ruto and South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung.

Before the group photograph, French President Emmanuel Macron formally welcomed PM Modi at the summit venue. The Prime Minister had arrived in France earlier in the day following an invitation from Macron.

India Marks 13th Appearance at G7 Summit

India’s participation in the summit marks its 13th appearance as a partner nation and the seventh consecutive time Prime Minister Modi has attended the forum. The summit has brought together leaders from the world’s major economies and partner countries to discuss issues ranging from economic growth to sustainable development and international cooperation.

Ahead of reaching France, PM Modi made a brief stopover in Geneva, Switzerland, where he met Swiss Confederation President Guy Parmelin. According to Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the two leaders exchanged greetings and reiterated their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between India and Switzerland.

Key Global Issues to Dominate Deliberations

PM Modi is scheduled to participate in a working session titled “Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity”. The discussions are expected to include leaders from G7 countries, partner nations and heads of major financial institutions such as the World Bank and the African Development Bank.

The deliberations are likely to focus on international cooperation, sustainable development and challenges facing the global economy. The summit is expected to provide a platform for strengthening partnerships amid evolving geopolitical and economic dynamics.

Bilateral Meetings on the Sidelines of Summit

In addition to the multilateral sessions, PM Modi is set to hold several bilateral meetings with world leaders. These include meetings with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

A closely watched meeting with US President Donald Trump is also scheduled for June 17. According to the White House, discussions between the two leaders are expected to focus on advancing the proposed India-US trade agreement.

Slovakia Visit Preceded France Leg of Tour

PM Modi’s participation in the G7 Summit comes after his landmark visit to Slovakia, the first by an Indian Prime Minister since the country’s independence in 1993. During the visit, India and Slovakia elevated their ties to a Comprehensive Partnership, opening avenues for greater cooperation in technology, defence, trade, education and innovation.

Reflecting on the visit, PM Modi said the outcomes would strengthen bilateral ties and benefit the youth of both countries through stronger trade relations. He also thanked the Slovak government and Prime Minister Robert Fico for their warmth and hospitality.

MEA Says Slovakia Visit Opened New Chapter

MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said the Prime Minister’s visit had ushered in a new chapter in India-Slovakia relations. He noted that the successful engagement had set a positive tone for India’s participation in the wider G7 deliberations in France.

With a packed diplomatic schedule and several high-level engagements lined up, PM Modi’s visit to Évian is expected to further strengthen India’s ties with key global partners while contributing to discussions on shared international challenges.
