PM Modi Leaves For Europe Visit, To Attend G7 Summit And Hold Talks With Macron

The CSR Journal Magazine

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday departed for a multi-leg visit to Europe that will see him hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron, participate in the G7 Summit in France and undertake a historic state visit to Slovakia.

The visit, spanning from June 13 to 19, is aimed at strengthening India’s strategic partnerships with France and Slovakia, enhancing cooperation in innovation and technology, and reaffirming New Delhi’s growing role in addressing global challenges.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), the visit will further deepen India’s engagement with Europe and underscore the country’s standing as a leading voice of the Global South.

Macron Meeting And Innovation Partnership In Focus

During the first leg of the visit, PM Modi will travel to Nice, France, where he is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Macron on Monday. The two leaders are expected to review the full spectrum of the India-France relationship, which was elevated to the level of a Special Global Strategic Partnership earlier this year.

The leaders will also jointly inaugurate the ‘Bharat Innovates’ event, bringing together leading startups and venture capital funds from India, France and other countries. Organised during the India-France Year of Innovation, the initiative is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the two countries in emerging technologies and entrepreneurship.

Following the bilateral engagements in Nice, the Prime Minister will travel to Slovakia at the invitation of Prime Minister Robert Fico. The visit marks the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Slovakia since the country gained independence in 1993.

PM Modi is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Fico and meet Slovak President Peter Pellegrini. Discussions are expected to focus on expanding cooperation in sectors including trade, investment, automobile manufacturing and railway production.

Historic Slovakia Visit To Strengthen Bilateral Ties

The visit follows a series of high-level exchanges between the two countries. President Droupadi Murmu visited Slovakia in April 2025, while Slovak President Peter Pellegrini travelled to India for the AI Impact Summit earlier this year.

According to the PMO, the visit will reaffirm India’s commitment to strengthening ties with Slovakia and exploring new opportunities for collaboration across key sectors.

The state visit is also expected to contribute to India’s broader engagement with Central Europe and complement efforts to deepen relations with the European Union.

G7 Summit And VivaTech Summit On Agenda

In the third leg of the tour, PM Modi will participate in the G7 Summit in Evian, France, on June 16 and 17. During the summit, he will exchange views with G7 leaders, invited partner countries and international organisations on issues including rebuilding international solidarity, promoting balanced and sustainable economic growth, and ensuring the safe and efficient deployment of artificial intelligence.

On the sidelines of the summit, the Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders.

The final leg of the visit will take PM Modi to Paris on June 18, where he will attend the VivaTech Summit, Europe’s largest technology and startup event. He is also expected to interact with members of the Indian diaspora in France.

The Prime Minister’s Office said PM Modi’s participation in Bharat Innovates and the VivaTech Summit would highlight India’s growing position as a global hub for innovation, digital transformation and entrepreneurship, while opening new avenues of cooperation between Indian and European technology ecosystems.

The visit is also expected to reinforce India’s broader strategic partnership with the European Union and strengthen cooperation with key European partners across sectors ranging from technology and trade to global governance.
