Patna Court Stays Khan Sir’s Arrest in Coaching Institute Shooting Case

The CSR Journal Magazine

The Patna District Court has issued a stay on the arrest of educator Faisal Khan, widely known as Khan Sir, concerning a recent shooting incident outside his coaching institute in Patna. This development occurred on June 9, following an FIR lodged at the Kadamkuan Police Station. The FIR includes provisions from the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Arms Act, and it encompasses three individuals, including Khan Sir.

On June 2, an alleged shooting incident took place near the coaching institute, resulting in injuries to a security guard. Video evidence purportedly showing two guards firing weapons followed this occurrence. These guards were subsequently arrested, prompting the authorities to register the FIR that initiated the legal proceedings against Khan Sir and two others.

Court Proceedings and Decisions

During the hearing at the Patna Civil Court, the District Judge addressed the requests related to Khan Sir’s arrest and the implications of the FIR. The judge’s decision to stay the arrest has temporarily halted any immediate legal consequences for Khan Sir. This order is regarded as a significant interim relief amid an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Moreover, there has been a growing demand for the release of Raushan Anand, the Director of Gyan Bindu GS Academy, who was arrested in connection with the same events. Educational leaders have publicly expressed their concerns regarding the ongoing detentions, questioning the rationale behind Anand’s continued custody. This situation underscores the complexities surrounding the incident and its aftermath.

Officials confirmed that, as part of the ongoing investigation, weapons linked to the shooting have been recovered. These items have been sent for examination at the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL). The legal actions initiated serve not only to address the immediate incident but also to delve deeper into the broader implications involving the academy and its staff.

Reaction from the Educational Community

The arrest of Raushan Anand has sparked considerable outrage among educators and students at Gyan Bindu GS Academy. Leading up to the court’s decision, voices from the academy, including teachers and student leaders, rallied for Anand’s immediate release, characterising the charges against him as unfounded. They expressed a sense of urgency to rectify what they perceive as an injustice in the legal process.

Shashank Pathak, a history teacher at the institution, remarked that the allegations against Anand lack substantial backing, implying that there is a deliberate effort to suppress the academy’s reputation following its positive performance in the Bihar police exam results. The calls for Anand’s release reflect the growing tensions in the community, with some individuals threatening to undertake hunger strikes if he is not released promptly.

In a statement provided earlier, Anand had suggested that a conspiracy was at play, alleging that certain local factions were attempting to undermine his establishment’s credibility. He also linked his predicament to broader conflicts involving other local entities, including the owners of Kisan cold storage. Such claims have heightened the discourse surrounding the situation, raising questions about the motives behind the legal actions taken against him and others involved.
