The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released advertisements for senior professional roles, specifically for the position of General Manager. These appointments are part of a strategic initiative aimed at revitalising the organisation, which is being executed in alignment with recommendations put forth by a High-Level Committee of Experts led by Prof K Radhakrishnan.

Four General Manager roles have been announced on a contractual basis, each with an initial tenure of three years. The responsibilities associated with these positions cover various critical functions within NTA, underlining the agency’s commitment to advancing its operational effectiveness.

One of the roles, General Manager for Assessment Research and Development and Psychometrics, will oversee the academic functions along with measurement science processes. Key duties include managing item banks and calibration procedures, in addition to piloting advancements such as Computer-Adaptive Testing.

Responsibilities and Requirements for General Manager Positions

The General Manager for Test Centre Network and Operations will manage a nationwide network of test centres. This involves maintaining quality standards across more than five hundred locations and ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities. Candidates for this role should possess extensive operations leadership experience within a complex, multi-site framework.

In addition, the role of Chief Information Security Officer has been established for the General Manager of Information Security. The individual in this position will spearhead the agency’s cyber-security initiatives, ensuring compliance with national legislation such as the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and the Information Technology Act, 2000. A specific focus will be placed on establishing a Security Operations Centre that operates continuously.

The last General Manager position focuses on Vigilance, Investigation and Forensics. This individual will lead internal investigations and coordinate with various law enforcement agencies on matters relating to malpractice. Candidates must demonstrate significant experience in the areas of vigilance and law enforcement.

Engagement of Young Professionals Through Pratibha Setu Portal

Separate from the senior roles, NTA is engaging sixteen Young Professionals through the Pratibha Setu portal linked to the Union Public Service Commission. This is a new venture for the agency, targeting candidates who have attempted the Civil Services Examination and are registered on the portal.

The positions entail various functions, with twelve slots earmarked for academic research, and two each for legal research and finance. Professionals will be stationed within the respective units of NTA, receiving a consolidated monthly remuneration over an initial period of twenty-four months, extendable to a maximum of thirty-six months based on performance.

These recruitment efforts, along with ongoing actions for empanelment across ten functional areas as recommended by the High-Level Committee, are indicative of NTA’s systematic approach to improving its academic and operational capabilities. The agency is also seeking Subject Matter Experts and Translators as part of this initiative.
