The CSR Journal Magazine

Streaming giant Netflix has officially inaugurated its visual effects and virtual production hub, Eyeline Studios, in Hyderabad. This significant development marks a strategic expansion into India’s burgeoning animation, visual effects, gaming, and comics (AVGC) sector. The launch event was attended by prominent figures including Revanth Reddy, Telangana IT Minister Sridhar Babu, Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary Sanjay Jaju, as well as actor-producer Rana Daggubati, alongside Jeff Shapiro.

Details About Eyeline Studios

Established in 2019, Eyeline Studios functions as Netflix’s innovation center, merging practical filmmaking with advanced technological solutions. In 2025, the facility amalgamated with Scanline VFX, a well-known entity in the visual effects industry founded in 1989, creating a united creative enterprise that operates through three divisions: Studios, VFX, and Labs. This new Hyderabad office is the fifth global location for Eyeline, following existing facilities in Los Angeles, Vancouver, Seoul, and London. The facility spans 32,000 square feet and is equipped with cutting-edge technologies for visual effects and generative virtual production, supported by a hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Technological Advancements at the Studio

Eyeline Studios boasts proprietary technology including the Light Dome volumetric lighting system, LED volume stages, 4D capture systems, and AI/ML-driven production tools. It has contributed to various global productions, including popular titles such as “Happy Gilmore 2,” “Wednesday,” “Stranger Things,” and “Daredevil: Born Again.”

Ted Sarandos Highlights India’s Creative Landscape

Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos addressed the event through a video message, describing Eyeline Studios as a hub for production innovation. He highlighted India’s status as a dynamic storytelling market with exceptional creative talent and a robust focus on the AVGC sector. Sarandos pointed to the Indian government’s goal of generating 2 million skilled jobs within this sector by 2030 as a sign of confidence and optimism. He expressed Netflix’s commitment to supporting this vision, aiming to foster innovation and content creation in the region.</h4
