The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, stated that the states governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have taken decisive action against recruitment scams and irregularities associated with examinations. Allegedly, opposition-ruled states have been unable to adequately manage such malpractices, which have become pervasive within their recruitment processes. Dhami highlighted efforts made by the Uttarakhand government to suppress the activities of cheating syndicates, indicating that over 100 individuals have been arrested.

Dhami further elaborated on the legal measures enacted by his administration, including a stringent new anti-cheating law designed to deter fraudulent activities. He noted that recruitment drives in Uttarakhand were executed in adherence to a defined schedule, ensuring transparency in the process. “We have taken significant measures against those involved in cheating, and we are committed to maintaining integrity within recruitment,” he said.

Comparative Analysis with Other States

In his statements, the Chief Minister contrasted Uttarakhand’s actions with the situations in states like Jharkhand and Punjab, suggesting that they have been characterised by considerable irregularities. He referred specifically to the tenure of the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh from 2012 to 2017, alleging it was a period marked by significant misconduct in recruitment processes.

Dhami’s accusations extended towards the opposition parties, including the Congress, the Samajwadi Party, and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). He claimed that these parties bore responsibility for the widespread irregularities and that the youth of India are aware of these issues. “These parties are the source of these wrongdoings, and young people recognise this truth,” he asserted.

The Chief Minister also indicated that the Prime Minister’s approach towards the issue of youth involved in such irregularities is to focus on addressing those orchestrating the scams rather than penalising young individuals who may have been easily influenced. Dhami praised the Prime Minister’s considered response, stating that it reflects an intention to forgive those misled rather than resorting to punishment.

Focus on Religious Conduct and Public Outreach Initiatives

During a press conference in Dehradun, CM Dhami made headlines by criticising opposition figures following legal proceedings initiated against Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Independent MP Pappu Yadav, and Samajwadi Party MP Awadhesh Prasad. This was in relation to an alleged affront to Sanatan Dharma. Dhami condemned these actions as the “lowest form of conduct,” emphasising that defaming religious leaders is unacceptable.

He specifically pointed out the alleged attempts of Pappu Yadav and his associates to cast Sanatan Dharma in a negative light. “Efforts to tarnish the reputation of saints are profoundly irresponsible,” Dhami stated, insisting that such actions reflect poorly on the character of those involved.

Additionally, Dhami expressed discontent with opposition leaders for not attending significant religious events, such as the Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha ceremony, while engaging in activities to discredit religious figures. He suggested that their absence at foundational moments serves to reveal their true attitudes towards Sanatan Dharma.

Continuing his address, Dhami discussed his government’s public outreach strategy, the ‘Jan-Jan ki Sarkar’ initiative, which aims to directly connect government services with citizens, particularly in outlying areas. He highlighted the initiative’s success in bringing administrative services closer to residents and ensuring they benefit from available government schemes.

According to Dhami, the outreach programme has notably engaged over 6.5 lakh individuals so far, with more than 60,000 people receiving immediate resolutions to their concerns. “Our focus is on ensuring that help reaches those in the remotest corners of Uttarakhand,” he concluded, asserting his government’s commitment to effective governance and service delivery.
