A young man and woman, both hailing from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh, tragically lost their lives when they were struck by a train just between Okhla and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations in New Delhi on August 3. According to police reports, the authorities were notified about the incident at approximately 8:47 PM on August 2. A team from the Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Police Station promptly arrived at the scene and discovered the two individuals deceased on the railway tracks.

Identification of Victims

The deceased individuals have been identified as 23-year-old Sagar, son of Mohan Lal, and 20-year-old Shivani, daughter of Devinder. Both victims were residents of Siana town in the Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh. The identification process was facilitated by the discovery of an Aadhaar card in Sagar’s pocket, which established his identity. Following this, authorities also confirmed Shivani’s identity, allowing for timely notification of their families.

According to officials, Sagar was employed at an insurance company. Initial investigations reveal that the pair had travelled to Delhi from Bulandshahr earlier on the same day, although the exact reasons for their presence on the tracks at the time of the incident remain unclear. Police are pursuing various lines of inquiry to better understand the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.

No suicide note has been recovered from the location yet, which adds a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation. The DCP Railways stated that both bodies have been transported to the mortuary at LNJP Hospital, where further examination is expected to take place.

Police Investigation Underway

Authorities confirmed they are conducting a thorough investigation to determine whether the incident was accidental or intentional. Proceedings under Section 194(1) of the Indian Penal Code are already in progress, and police are working diligently to examine all relevant evidence.

Given the sensitive nature of such cases, law enforcement is also looking into the backgrounds of the victims to ascertain if there are any underlying factors that may have contributed to the incident.
