A 17-year-old girl abducted from Jaipur was rescued after being held in captivity for 10 days. Police officials said the girl, a Jaipur resident, was lured by the man under the pretext of a meeting and taken to Uttar Pradesh, where she was held captive.

Officials said a report about the missing minor girl was filed 10 days ago. After she left home and did not return and her phone became unreachable, her family members filed a missing complaint. Based on the circumstances, police filed a kidnapping case and initiated a search operation. While investigating, police traced her location to UP. Police immediately left for UP, raided the location, and rescued the girl.

What happened on the day of abduction?

The minor victim confirmed that she knew the accused previously. Taking advantage of this acquaintance, he invited her to his place for a work-related meeting. When she reached the location, he deceived and coerced her, then took her away to UP. The victim was held in confinement for 10 days and was threatened to prevent her from contacting anyone. Based on the minor’s statement, a case was filed for kidnapping and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act). Accused has been arrested, and the investigation is underway.

One officer incharge of the cases said, “Timely action and coordinated efforts led to the safe recovery of the minor, and strict legal action will be taken against the accused.”

Missing cases in Rajasthan

According to media reports on average, around 93 people go missing every day in Rajasthan and 76% of those missing are women. The annual number of missing persons reported in the state exceeds 30,000. In 2024 alone, 7,339 children went missing across Rajasthan, 6,838 were traced, but 501 children are still missing. Of the missing children, 451 are girls.
